Robert Half Staff Accountant in Richmond, Virginia

Description We are offering a contract to hire employment opportunity for a Staff Accountant in the Wholesale Distribution industry, based in Richmond, Virginia. As a Staff Accountant, you will be instrumental in maintaining our financial records, including purchases, sales, receipts and payments. Your work will involve all aspects of accounting such as managing ledger entries and reconciliations, analyzing financial statements and reports, and managing internal control processes.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and manage monthly journal entries, including routine closing entries, to facilitate accurate financial reporting.

• Perform monthly and/or quarterly account reconciliations to ensure accurate reporting and ledger maintenance.

• Provide assistance to the team in managing and monitoring employee credit card program, including recording employee credit card expenses in a timely and accurate manner.

• Take part in the analysis of variances between actual, prior-year, and budgeted results, offering insights and recommendations.

• Prepare and compile financial documents for external auditors, taxing authorities and other internal parties to ensure compliance with financial requirements.

• Handle other daily duties as assigned to support the accounting and finance team.

• Leverage skills in Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), Bank Reconciliations, General Ledger, Journal Entries, Month End Close, NetSuite, Oracle, QuickBooks, SAP to perform job duties efficiently. Requirements • Proficiency in managing Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)

• Experience with Bank Reconciliations

• Familiarity with General Ledger management

• Ability to prepare and post Journal Entries

• Experience with Month End Close procedures

• Proficiency in NetSuite software

• Familiarity with Oracle software

• Knowledge of QuickBooks software

• Experience with SAP software

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

• Knowledge of industry standards and best practices in Wholesale Distribution

• Ability to multi-task and manage time effectively

• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
