U.S. Army Joint Munitions Command Security Guard in Richmond, Kentucky

Summary This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for DIB/MRTFB to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: This position is the first layer of defense in a security-in-depth concept to deter, detect, delay, and document unauthorized access to Army installations. Guards are responsible for preserving the life, health and safety of government personnel and safeguarding Army property. Responsibilities Independently perform installation access control. Grants access to persons, denies entry or arranges for escorts, as appropriate. Inspects containers, personal property, documents on private, commercial and governmental vehicles, exercises tact, courtesy, and firmness in the performance of all force protection duties. Assists Department of the Army Civilian and Military police as required by rerouting traffic, obtaining facts, taking statements, etc. Performs Visitor Control Center (VCC) duties. Verifies personnel credentials, prints visitor passes and/or badges, creates and edits cardholder records and runs card and/or pass access reports. Serves as a member of the installation’s overall security response capability during actual or simulated incidents. Regulates pedestrian and vehicular traffic to prevent accidents and to ease congestion and parking problems. Conducts traffic stops at the installation Access Control Point (IACP) for safety and security checks. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience GS-06: One year of specialized experience which includes: Providing guard services to preserve peace and order; utilizing law enforcement equipment such as: restraining devices, safety equipment, two-way communication devices, and motor vehicles to restrain individuals, communicate with emergency personnel, and patrol around the facility; applying security policies and procedures related to physical security, legal authority and jurisdiction, and emergencies in protecting property; writing security reports. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). Specialized Experience GS-05: One year of specialized experience which includes: Providing guard services to a large facility; knowledge of law enforcement equipment such as: restraining devices, safety equipment, two-way communication devices, and motor vehicles to restrain individuals, communicate with emergency personnel, and patrol around the facility; knowledge of security policies and procedures related to physical security, legal authority and jurisdiction, and emergencies in protecting property; reviewing security reports. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04). Specialized Experience GS-04: Six months of general work experience which includes: Providing guard or security services; familiarity with law enforcement equipment such as: restraining devices, safety equipment, two-way communication devices, and motor vehicles to restrain individuals, communicate with emergency personnel, and patrol around the facility; familiarity with policies and procedures related to physical security, legal authority and jurisdiction, and emergencies in protecting property. Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone -- no substitution of education for experience is permitted. This is a Term position scheduled to last 366 days and may be extended up to a maximum of eight (8) years. .
