Epic Upgrade Specialist

Reporting to the Manager of EMR Clinical Applications, the Epic Upgrade Specialist will use their clinical knowledge combined with their superior analytical skills to support Mackenzie health EMR (electronic medical record). The incumbent will research, test, debug, document, release, install, and support any system supported by information systems.
What must you have?
Undergraduate degree or diploma in a clinically related field, health informatics, or computer science or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
2 years’ experience writing technical documentation in a software testing or quality assurance environment.
Minimum 1 year experience in an informal leadership role working with technical team.
Experience working with Epic EMR.
What else do you bring?
Coordinating integrated system testing, upgrading and optimizing of the software.
Developing and documenting policies, procedures and run-book.
Acting as the liaison between analysts, technical team, and third-party vendors to ensure clear communication
Able to coordinate with multiple internal and external teams for and during Epic upgrade and testing efforts.
Able to provide leadership, guidance, and training to other staff related to Epic upgrade and training (eg. Nova tasks, Sherlock checklists, System Update process). Displays creative thinking and resolves problems.
Able to prepare the required documents in accordance with information systems programming standards, policies, and procedures.
Effectively communicates project expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion, including preparing regular reporting as required to communicate activity and progress, milestones, and other key project metrics.
Proactively identifies barriers/threats/risks for project completion and works with team members including Analysts, Project Managers and Clinicians to develop solutions.
Provides and/or coordinates testing and direction to Analysts, Project and Technical team.
Superior experience with MS Office/ Windows / Visio experience/One Note/SharePoint.
Values the importance of data quality in an EMR user security, access provisioning, best practices, and change management process.
Knowledge of how various clinical workflows are conducted in a hospital setting.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate information clearly and concisely with, physicians, nurses, allied health professionals, other clinical stakeholders, and project leadership.
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in supporting large scale health care information systems and technologies. They will utilize their project management skills to execute on-time deliverables to the organization.
The incumbent will use their expertise and understanding of the organizational culture and clinical application experience in providing support in the delivery of care across the hospital.
Strong communication and conflict-management skills.
Proven attendance record.
Highly organized and detail oriented.

Preferably, your profile also includes:
EPIC certification in any application is an asset.
2-5 years of hospital clinical and/or hospital information systems and EMR experience, preferred.
Service Now experience an asset.
ITIL certification, an asset.
Clinical, professional designations preferred
