UnitedHealth Group Network Engagement Manager - Telecommute in Multiple Locations in Reston, Virginia

You'll use your strong customer-oriented skills and knowledge of the health care industry to serve as a Network Engagement Manger for providers in our networks including physicians, hospitals and facilities. This is an individual contributor role on a team of Network Engagement Managers within a specified area for the Northeast Region. You'll enjoy the flexibility to telecommute with approximately 25%-50% travel within assigned territory.

If you are located in Virginia, Maryland, DC and/or West Virginia, you will have the flexibility to telecommute* as you take on some tough challenges. This role requires the ability to telecommute within these areas.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Support a network performance approach to EMR optimization and interoperability tools which include technical solutions, stakeholder engagement and education, operations workflow, and reporting capabilities to help network providers achieve performance improvement related to healthcare quality and affordability

  • Serve as the primary contact for our provider engagements and ensure providers generate value to their practice, their patients and our members, and to UnitedHealthcare

  • Partner with the provider on an ongoing basis to ensure that quality, financial and operational targets are achieved

  • Drive the strategy, education, and execution of our interoperability, growth, and affordability objectives for UnitedHealthcare network providers

  • Educate and inform UnitedHealthcare network providers on the tools they can use to serve our members more effectively and partner with them on opportunities to improve patient care management

  • Serve as the primary coordination lead for engagement management initiatives including work with external providers on appropriate use of the network, adoption of point-of-care enablement technology, self-service adoption, achievement of affordability targets, and general education on provider-focused UHC technologies

  • Provide day-to-day management of engagement activities including project management, reporting, coaching, implementation, problem resolution with defined service partners, and other activities to assist in facilitating successful relationships with assigned providers/book of business

  • Maintain detailed product knowledge of the full suite of interoperability tools and reporting capabilities and develop expertise in the use of the interoperability tools

  • Facilitate calls and on-site/virtual meetings for assigned book of business consisting of medical practices and health systems

  • Present to and foster relationships with external C-Suite and senior level decision makers

  • Develop and execute a strategy for each provider within your book of business - identifying both provider and UnitedHealthcare objectives and ensuring optimal utilization of interoperability services

  • Analyze provider and health system operational, quality and financial performance as it relates to the interoperability initiative

  • In partnership with UHC Interoperability subject matter expert, operate as provider adoption leader for all interoperability initiatives (i.e. including UHC Insights, PreCheck MyScript and Point of Care Assist solutions)

  • Interface with key individuals from provider practices to drive understanding of the provider practice data; act as subject matter expert and support needed practice workflow changes

  • Ensure practice data is shared at appropriate intervals so providers understand how they are performing on a timely basis, and can improve their performance to set benchmarks

  • Present practice data and information at external meetings to ensure ongoing collaboration that maximizes value for the provider

  • Understand and guide providers to appropriate resources to troubleshoot questions and other business concerns

  • Accurately and effectively communicate the status of Point of Care Assist solutions and initiatives to internal UHG business partners

  • Share best practice recommendations and collaborate with internal program team to share opportunities to drive performance improvement

  • Appropriately prioritize and escalate issues to contract leadership in support of ongoing relationship management

  • Recommend data/report enhancements based on feedback received from providers participating in the High Performing Physician (HPP) initiative

  • Engagement of HPP and non-HPP provider groups to support performance journey to maintain/achieve HPP status

  • Log all provider interactions and follow up on open issues to ensure proper documentation of current and future actions are tracked

  • Create provider feedback loop on improved satisfaction opportunities with interoperability tools

  • Complete all ongoing Network Engagement Management training and assessments

  • Meet individual affordability and engagement performance metrics set by National UnitedHealthcare Networks Team

  • Ongoing Network:

  • All Self-Service Adoption Efforts: Link, Smart Edits, Decisioning at Point of Care (DPOC) & additional technology as it becomes available

  • New and ongoing Policy Changes (i.e. affordability initiatives)

  • Other outreach efforts as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience

  • 3+ years of experience in health plans and/or provider practice

  • 3+ years of customer service skills and/or client management experience

  • Intermediate level of proficiency in MS Office (Excel and PowerPoint), SharePoint, and customer management software

  • Ability to travel up to 25% travel with ability to go up to 50% within a market / state / region to meet face to face with provider organizations

  • Ability to telecommute within Virginia, Maryland, DC and/or West Virginia

  • If you need to enter a work site for any reason, you will be required to screen for symptoms using the ProtectWell mobile app, Interactive Voice Response (i.e., entering your symptoms via phone system) or similar UnitedHealth Group-approved symptom screener. When in a UnitedHealth Group building, employees are required to wear a mask in common areas. In addition, employees must comply with any state and local masking orders

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Project management expertise

  • Experience in sales, service or coaching efforts with providers / customers

  • Experience presenting to senior executive level audiences

  • Consulting experience

  • Intermediate level of proficiency with contract reimbursement methodologies

  • Good organization and planning skills

  • Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines from multiple staff members within the department

  • Strong analytical reasoning or quantitative analysis skills
