About This Role * The Assoc. Scientist II/Engineer I - Downstream will contribute as a subject matter expert for drug substances manufactured at Biogen. They will provide technical expertise on separations of large molecules by chromatography, filtration, and other purification methods. In addition to traditional protein biologics, investigative work will include studies of anti-sense oligonucleotides (ASOs). The Assoc. Sci/Eng will contribute on technical process investigations and tech transfer activities for downstream GMP operations. *What You’ll Do * * Perform laboratory experiments towards process optimization or robustness. The work requires collaborative skills and will be executed under the direction of a lead Scientist/Engineer. * Effectively and efficiently communicate results and decisions to the Process Sciences team (and to external groups when appropriate, e.g., technology transfer team, site management, and technical development). * Author technical, developmental, and validation reports. Provide data and reports to support process robustness/understanding, investigations, and regulatory submissions as needed * Contribute on technology transfers by conducting/coordinating laboratory experiments. * Participate on multi-functional teams for defining the future work of enhancing GMP operations and process control. *Who You Are * You are a highly motivated and creative individual with applicable knowledge in mammalian cell-based drug substance manufacture. You are passionate for exploring novel science-based strategies and excited for hands-on work to define the cutting-edge technologies used at Biogen. *Required Qualifications: * Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline. in addition to 0-2 years of relevant experience. * Technical knowledge of biopharmaceutical manufacturing and/or process development.
