The Office for the Web Suite Experiences and Insights team is looking for a strong and motivated Principal Software Engineering to help build new and innovative web-first experiences in authoring, collaboration, communication and more. You will be part of a dynamic, web-first team in a data-driven org that is passionate about the customer experience.

This team is at the center of the Office strategy for service-based web productivity. Working together with partners across Office (such as Excel, OneNote, PowerPoint, Word, Visio) and other divisions of Microsoft, as well as with external partners, we are building and delivering the best-in-class Office Web applications that expand the reach of traditional office client apps by supporting a wide range of browsers and platforms. It’s an exciting time to join as we expand our browser offering, drive performance and reliability across the entire suite of the web apps, seamlessly integrate with products such as Teams and Outlook Web App, and develop on top of Typescript / React for our frontend development.

Responsibilities

Your key responsibilities will include the following:

• Own and deliver complete features, including design, architecture, implementation, testability, debugging, and shipping.

• Work closely with other disciplines to shape the product

• Demonstrate the ability to learn quickly, be self-directed, and work well with other people

• Foster a culture of being agile, innovative, team-oriented and customer-focused

  • Influence priorities, investment and architecture as part of web suite and insights extended leadership team

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of professional software engineering experience

  • Proven development experience JavaScript/TypeScript and/or C++, C#, Java

  • Experience with JavaScript, CSS, HTML5, ASP.Net a plus but not required

  • Strong problem solving, debugging, and troubleshooting skills

  • Outstanding cross-discipline and cross group collaboration skills

  • Deep passion for customers, design thinking, data analysis and technology

  • Proficiency in debugging and diagnosing service health issues

  • Demonstrated experience in shipping high-quality products or services
