Microsoft Corporation Designed for Surface Portfolio Manager in Redmond, Washington

The Designed for Surface team is the officially licensed third party accessories program for Surface devices. Our mission is to enable more Surface device sales and improve customer experience through quality licensed third-party accessories that users want and need.

Interested in working on innovative products supporting device launches with industry leading Partners and cross-functional teams? Microsoft is looking for a Category and Portfolio Manager responsible for championing Designed for Surface partners and their associated certified products. The ideal candidate is a passionate customer and Partner advocate with proven analytical capabilities and project management skills, great attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple competing priorities. Do we have the right products on our catalog to close critical customer gaps? Do we have the right partners to execute on our mission? These are a few of the questions that you will answer for our team. Effective communication and cross-team collaboration will be essential to your success in this. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with a passion for hardware and a high level of flexibility and commitment

Responsibilities

Our environment is fast-paced, and requires someone who is adaptable, detail-oriented, analytical, and comfortable working with multiple Partners, teams, vendors, and management. On a day-to-day basis, you will:

  • Represent DfS while collaborating with cross-functional teams, including hardware engineering, marketing, Surface specialists, Microsoft Stores and senior leaders

  • Design, develop and lead special projects to help Partners deliver solutions to meet specific commercial and consumer opportunities

  • Coordinate DfS product launches to coincide with and amplify Surface device launches, including collaborative engagement on photoshoots, influencer campaigns, sales briefings, and marketing launch events

  • Review existing DfS categories and research and execute on expansion opportunities to grow the program

  • Conduct business development to champion the program internally, and externally with potential new DfS partners, including initial partnership agreement negotiations, new partner onboarding, and transition planning with the partner management team

  • Act as voice of the DfS team, creating and publishing written and visual content for newsletters, publications, and disclosures

  • Lead internal DfS team meetings and disseminate Surface communications to the wider DfS team

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s with Master’s degree a plus

  • Proven experience leading teams & cross-functional projects

  • Highly polished communication skills - speaking, writing, presenting and negotiating

  • Ability to operate simultaneously and effectively in both tactical and strategic modes

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant experience in technology, operations, and/or business management with a proven history of delivering results

  • Ability to think and react in a high-energy, fast-paced environment

  • Experience in vendor negotiations, pricing and promotion, inventory management, and product development

  • Advanced experience with Excel, or other analytical/Business Intelligence tools

  • Experience with MS Dynamics

  • A willingness to roll up sleeves to get things done
