The Production Monitoring Technologies Services (PMTS) team is part of the Enterprise Technology Infrastructure group responsible for all aspects of the enterprise infrastructure, and various applications. PMTS is responsible for the architecture, engineering, development and oversight of new and existing applications for enterprise monitoring and systems management.

Event monitoring is undergoing a transformation to support the firm's strategic initiatives. This includes developing and implementing an overall event management strategy, including supporting the firms cloud strategy, retooling compute monitoring, implementing an AIOps solution linked to automation that will provide meaningful events whilst driving automated resolution of known events.

The engineering manager will be responsible for the firms compute monitoring platforms. As a technical thought leader principle engineer, you'll have the opportunity to manage the complex challenges of scale within an event management environment, while using your expertise in developing, complexity analysis and large-scale system design. As the engineering manager you must adopt and support a culture of diversity, intellectual curiosity, problem solving and openness. This is a hands on role, your skills will be used to drive, mentor and ultimately deliver solutions in a CI/CD fashion. You will be highly experienced working in an Agile fashion and be responsible for managing all aspects of the product delivery.

Who are you?

A hands on engineer who is comfortable in delivery as well as managing a team of engineers, have a strong customer engagement skills and strong financial acumen. You have a strong understanding of large-scale computing solutions having implemented advanced monitoring and automated solutions across a variety of applications and systems for both on-prem and cloud environments. You have experience working as a DevOps or Site Reliability Engineer in a scaled cloud environment. You enjoy writing code and creating automation to manage your services.

You will be a proven leader in the monitoring environment and have a proven record in transforming monitoring environments technically whilst managing the costs of the monitoring products closely.

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of technology engineering experience

  • 6+ years of leadership and people management experience in a technology environment

  • 5+ years of experience with strategic planning in technology

  • Ability to negotiate, influence, and collaborate to build successful relationships

Other Desired Qualifications

  • Experience of AIOps technologies

  • Experience managing global teams

  • 5+ years' experience leading in an enterprise monitoring environment, having experience of designing and implementing enterprise wide solutions

  • 5+ years' of recent systems engineering, software engineering, site reliability, or dev-ops experience in a medium to large scale production Linux or other UNIX environment

  • 5+ years' of recent systems engineering developing both on-preise and cloud monitoring solutions

  • 5+ years' experience in industry standard CI/CD tools like Git/BitBucket/GitLab, Jenkins, Maven, Artifactory, Ansible, and Puppet. Experience designing and implementing an effective and efficient CI/CD flow that gets code from dev to prod with high quality and minimal manual effort is desired.

  • A proven track record in transformational activities

  • 5+ years' experience in developing innovative process automation and customer self-service

  • 5+ years' experience in one or more of the following is preferred: Java, Python, Go, Perl, Shell, Ruby, JavaScript, PHP, C/C++.

  • Systematic problem-solving approach, coupled with strong communication skills and a sense of ownership and drive.

  • Ability to help debug and optimize code and automate routine tasks.

  • Experience in dealing with difficult situations and making decisions with a sense of urgency is needed.

  • 8+ years' experience with Linux operating systems internals (e.g., file systems, system calls),

  • 3+ years' experience with cloud system fundamentals (Kubernetes, Containers, Virtualization, Automation) and observability techniques for these platforms

  • Experience with analyzing and troubleshooting system

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

  • Experience designing large-scale distributed systems.

  • Experience designing and developing software oriented towards IT Operations process and customer self-service automation

  • Ability to debug, optimize code, and automate complex/routine tasks.

  • Systematic problem-solving approach, coupled with effective communication skills and a sense of drive.

  • Self-starter with the ability to understand complex problems quickly

  • Experience with engineering data transport, logging and metrics solutions within a large enterprise

  • Experience with data structures, scripting, pipeline management, and software design

  • Experience interacting with Senior technology leaders

Job Expectations

  • Ability to travel up to 15% of the time
