As a key member of the NSF I-Corps Hub: Northeast Region team, you will actively seek out faculty and graduate students that could be good candidates for participating in the NSF I-Corps Hub: Northeast Region programming. You will conduct recruitment and outreach activities to increase the number of participants in the I-Corps Hub programming.

We are looking for a team member with a determined, engaging, and inquisitive disposition, who is genuinely excited by scientific research and the impact it can create. The ideal candidate will understand a wide range of scientific fields, the driving factors behind the success or failure of a technology and will be able to determine the technology readiness level while thinking creatively about potential applications.

The National Science Foundation Innovation Corps (NSF I-CorpsTM) Northeast Hub is led by Princeton University, in collaboration with several other prestigious universities in the region and is a member of the larger National Innovation Network. The NSF I-Corps Hub: Northeast Region has developed a regional network of academic, industrial and government partnerships that will grow the nation’s capacity to transform scientific discoveries into tangible societal benefits. Serving as a catalyst to democratize access to opportunities through educational and training programs, the Hub directly leads to the formation of new commercial ventures to translate laboratory discoveries for societal impact.

Responsibilities

Outreach and Recruitment Develop and implement events and outreach activities to recruit potential faculty, researchers, and graduate students into I-Corps Hub programming and broaden participation from underrepresented groups. Develop and implement an annual recruitment plan to support Hub programming. Provide monthly reports to Hub leadership on recruitment activities and prospects. These activities will span multiple institutions in the Northeast I-Corps Hub. Design and implement processes to gather and organize information from across the Hub institutions’ research enterprises. Assist with the development, collection, and analysis of I-Corps Hub program metrics related to recruitment and outreach. Represent the I-Corps Hub at internal and external conferences or networking events.

Relationship Management and Collaboration Develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with university and industry partners across the northeast. Work collaboratively with partners across the University to co-evaluate technologies developed across Princeton University. Develop and grow relationships with technology transfer offices at other universities, industry representatives, and faculty to promote the mission of I-Corps and increase program awareness. Actively participate in appropriate Hub working groups to strengthen Hub collaboration and assist in meeting annual grant milestones.

Technology Development Identify promising technologies developed by faculty, researchers, and graduate students interested in exploring commercialization of their research. Work with Princeton University faculty, researchers, and graduate students to improve their understanding and interest in exploring the real-world impact of their work. Assist teams with finding human, financial, and educational resources to advance or develop their ideas or technology. Educate faculty and researchers in market/customer discovery and commercialization as needed.

Qualifications

Required:

Master’s degree in business, engineering, or related field. Relentlessly positive attitude about the potential impact of translating scientific discoveries into real world applications. Proficient project planning and management. Strong interpersonal communication, listening, and influencing skills. Strong networking skills with an ability to build and maintain professional relationships. Experience in customer-focused functions. Strong organizational skills with demonstrated attention to detail; self-starter with ability to set priorities. Familiarity with the different pathways for technology commercialization including licensing, joint ventures, joint development agreements, and startups. Fluency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and Google Suite.

Preferred:

Ph.D. in Engineering or related field. Experience in sales or business development. Experience in I-Corps, Lean Launchpad methodologies and customer discovery.
