Your Role and Responsibilities

Job Description:

In this role you will be part of a Quality Team with direct responsibility for the outgoing quality of Cognitive and z Systems manufactured in IBM Poughkeepsie. Responsibilities will include:

  • Performing in-line and outgoing quality inspections

  • Working directly with manufacturing and quality engineering to determine root cause and drive corrective actions for manufacturing and field workmanship incidents

  • Providing cross-shift communication on 2nd shift quality problems

  • Performing manufacturing practice vs procedure audits

  • Participating in Engineering Pre-Stop and Stop Ship meetings and performing inspections as required

  • Issuing Quality Awareness Bulletins to the manufacturing line as needed

  • Assisting with maintenance of quality inspection checklists and other quality related documentation

  • Training of manufacturing personnel as necessitated by quality incidents

  • Providing 2nd shift quality metrics data as needed

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • 1+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written

  • Flexibility to work weekends, overtime and quickly change work schedule as needed

  • Knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint, Word

  • Have a passion for Quality

  • Attention to detail

  • Analytical thinker

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

  • 1-2 years of experience or internship in a manufacturing environment
