IBM Infrastructure Specialist in Poughkeepsie, New York

Your Role and Responsibilities

IBM's Chief Information Office is currently looking for an experienced Infrastructure Specialist to join our team in Poughkeepsie, NY. This technical position will be part of a team of engineers working to transform IBM from within, using best-in-industry development and operations tools. The role will serve as an influential change agent for Agile techniques and DevOps methodologies, through deployment of high quality tools that create a productive environment for IBMers. Our CIO office is at the forefront of the company's transformation and is therefore a very exciting place to work!

As an Infrastructure Specialist, you will be on the frontline working to deploy, administer, support, and maintain several software applications and servers internally within IBM. You will work closely with internal IBMers and external partners, to lead and champion our process, policies, and tools. This position will require a strong technical background, ability to troubleshoot complex problems, innovative thinking, excellent communication and willingness to drive customer satisfaction directly with end users. We expect this role to contribute to our strong engineering culture, which strives upon continuous learning, improvement, and sharing knowledge throughout IBM. This is an important technical role that will require leadership in an evolving culture, designed to deliver software solutions continually, in a fast-paced environment.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science (or equivalent)

  • Familiarity with IT / Software Development / Engineering Projects

  • Experience Troubleshooting Difficult Technical Problems

  • Ability to Learn & Pick up New Skills Quickly

  • Strong Communication Skills, across diverse, world-wide operations organization.

  • Customer Support Skills and Accountability for work

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Experience with IT System Administration of Applications (Linux, AIX)

  • Familiarity Cloud Application and Infrastructure Experience

  • Experience with Programming and/or Scripting

  • Familiarity with Agile/DevOps Methodologies

  • Familiarity with Microelectronics or Manufacturing Systems

  • Familiarity with B2B Standards (EDI/Rosettanet)
