What is a Cyber Security Analyst?

This role is within the Information Technology Cyber Security group which supports the company’s cyber security services. The Cyber Security Analyst will protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of Central Hudson’s information and technical environments and also support enterprise security goals and objectives.


  • Perform security risk assessments of system implementation projects and ensure that the proper security controls and configurations are implemented by testing their effectiveness
  • Understand and analyze the existing network and security architecture against security best practices and provide recommendations to ensure alignment with internal policies
  • Monitor and analyze security alerts, including trend and root cause analysis, to detect, respond to, and mitigate information security related vulnerabilities and incidents
  • Evaluate system specific vulnerability scans and work with various departments to remediate any high risk items
  • Assist in responding to any cyber security incidents, including investigating and documenting the incident according to the Incident Response Plan
  • Coordinate with external consultants on security assessments, including developing and implementing action plans to address any findings
  • Perform other duties as required and assigned, which may include IT risk and compliance assignments



  • An Associate’s Degree in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, Cyber Security, or related field of study, with at least 3 years of experience in Information/Cyber Security and/or IT Technical Support
  • In lieu of a degree, at least 5 years of experience in Information/Cyber Security and/or IT Technical Support
  • A demonstrated understanding of network topologies, architectures, protocols, and addressing schemes across multiple platforms
  • Knowledge of and a demonstrated ability to operate Windows-based and Linux-based security tools
  • Well-developed written/verbal communication and presentation skills, planning and organizational skills
  • Proven interpersonal, facilitation, negotiation, and problem/resolution skills
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision and work well under pressure
  • Must be able to adapt to a variety of assignments
  • Valid driver's license


  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, Information Security, Information Assurance, or Management Information Systems
  • One or more of the following certifications: CISM, Security +, CASP, CISSP, CSSLP, or GIAC
  • Experience with the following is highly desirable: network management, understanding of packet dumps, data parsing, system logs, basic scripting languages, and SIEM
