Our North America Retail Brand Marketing team is looking for a Visual Merchandising Manager to develop, communicate and execute Columbia’s product presentation strategies and tactical visual merchandising initiative within our North America Direct-to-Consumer Factory Outlet stores. In this role, you will develop and innovate retail standards based on collaboration with departmental and cross functional partners including Store Operations, Merchandising, and Retail Marketing.


  • Create seasonal visual presentation briefs that align with Global Brand Marketing calendar and initiatives maximizing traditional NA Retail moments. Collaborate with signage and fixture partners to deliver compelling seasonal storytelling initiatives, windows, floor-set directives, etc.

  • Develop visual presentation standards for Factory Outlet Stores; manage best practices where needed and strategize with retail team and channel manager to implement agreed-upon changes and updates.

  • Create and communicate Seasonal Merchandising Directives based on pre-season strategy and monthly Window Directives aligned to seasonal initiatives

  • Create and execute reactionary updates per merchant and in-store marketing needs (product shifts, promos and new initiatives)

  • Collaborate with Merchant partners during assortment planning phase to provide retail presentation point of view and guardrails

  • Manage the development, innovation and management of all visual merchandising & in-store communication training and compliance tools ensuring consistency across Factory Outlet Stores; develop visual presentation Guide Books and Training Materials to be distributed to store staff and field leadership.

  • Create zone plan for each new/remodel store based on collaboration with Merchant partners to maximize capacity while maintaining a Brand-appropriate aesthetic;manage creation and content of new store/remodel directives, travel to new store openings to lead merchandising and training, recap openings to the larger marketing group. Manage outside agencies to assist with completion when necessary.

  • Plan market visits including store visits with DTC Leadership and competitor market visits (for inspiration and to ensure the Columbia Brand Environment is relevant and competitive)

  • Drive capacity studies for new programs; provide detailed dimensions or other deliverables as part of collaborative briefing.

  • Oversee analytics, especially rolling up analytics seasonallyfor visibility on store use, timing, accuracy as well as track ROI

  • A strong communication (written and verbal)


  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience with focus on retail merchandising, retail planning or visual merchandising

  • 5+ years of experience in visual merchandising, space planning, assortment planning, or product presentation, preferably with a multi-channel and/or vertical retailer

  • 5+ years of CAD, InDesign and Photoshop experience

  • Proven experience documenting standards and directives
