U.S. Military Entrance Processing Command Medical Technician in Portland, Maine
Summary About the Position: This is a Public Notice for the Direct Hire Authority (DHA) for Certain Personnel of DoD Workforce. This position is located at: United States Military Entrance Processing Command, Portland Military Entrance Processing Station, Portland, ME. Responsibilities In process applicants to verify their identity using previously captured biometrics (digital fingerprints and photographs). Instruct applicants on test procedures. Assist applicants on completion of a variety of forms required for physical examination. Review unique medical forms for proper format, coding, and completion. Perform phlebotomy procedures to obtain blood samples for HIV and other laboratory tests. Conduct medical orientation to enter data. Track and maintain medical assessment data. Manage medical consultations to include verifying doctor's orders. Prepare Drug and Alcohol Test (DAT) control logs and obtain control log signatures. Quality check chain of custody documents ensuring no information is missing or in error. Prepare packages and ship specimens to testing laboratory. Maintain applicant's medical records during the examination process and personally identifiable information (PII). Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes preparing medical records; screening medical records; performing phlebotomy procedures; taking biometric data; and administering various tests such as Breath Alcohol Test, Drug Alcohol Test, Audiometric tests, color vision tests, near/far vision tests, or electrocardiograms. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). Education Substitution: Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience above in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualifications requirements using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Education Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year trial/probationary period may be required. Direct Deposit of Pay is required.
