The Supervisor is responsible for operations, quality of service provided, employee development, operating and capital budget accountability, and short/long-term planning. Responsibilities:
Recommend interdepartmental and department policies and procedures on operations in areas of responsibility.
Maintain a positive attitude during interactions with all hospital personnel, patients, and visitors.
Monitor the completion of employee time cards and associated documentation.
Maintain Operating Room linen within Central Service and deliver these linens along with O.R. basins to the O.R. as requested each day.
Implement and maintain accurate position descriptions and performance standards for all subordinates; review the job performance of each subordinate on an annual or as required basis and make recommendations to the Manager concerning potential merit increments.
Ensure all personnel is aware of hospital policies and procedures; enact disciplinary procedures when appropriate.
Maintain an accurate tracking system for all utilized equipment.
Implement and interpret monthly activity data for Central Sterile functions; data highlight departmental performances pinpoints problems, develops alternatives, and advises on significant trends.
Serve as Central Service representative to the hospital user groups for all operations-related issues, including purchasing/rental issues and financial issues to ensure proper levels of service satisfaction.
Repair all non-operational equipment immediately upon arrival into the department.
Perform pick-ups of all soiled items, including lab glassware, general medical/surgical supplies, and equipment from the patient units for reprocessing.
Select, evaluate, develop, motivate, and counsel subordinates.
Clean and prepare all items for reprocessing.
Assist in development and monitoring of operating and capital budgets in all areas of responsibility; prepare monthly budget variance reports which examine budgeted versus actual expenditures.
Responsible for the batching/preparation of all unit charges and equipment vouchers daily.
Make equipment rounds continuously per shift and deliver all serviced equipment to the Distribution Center.
Keep the department in a clean and organized fashion, while following the appropriate aseptic techniques at all times.
Maintain an awareness of any change in departmental procedures and policies.
Qualifications
High School Diploma and 5 years experience OR 4-year degree and 3 years of experience.
Supervisory experienced required
