Our cost of living is low compared to other major cities.The Department of Chemical Engineering (CHEG) is seeking a part-time Research Assistant for the Grossmann research lab. In this role, the ideal candidate will provide research support on the development of diagnosis tools for supply chain optimization models. In particular the goal is to develop optimization models to explain and identify reason for instances giving rise to infeasible solutions, results that appear counter-intuitive, and large changes in output for small changes in the input parameters. Both tools from flexibility analysis, regression and machine learning will be explored.Core responsibilities will include:Follows research plans in order to collect, record, and manipulate research data. Maintains accurate and detailed research records and files.Performs related duties as assigned.May test software prototypes. May interact with research subjects in order to perform job functions.Performs basic data analysis in order to product reports. Documents results and processes.Performs library research and field explorations.Qualifications:High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's Degree preferred.Experience in Chemical Engineering or related field;Interdisciplinary strength in Process Systems Engineering;A strong research record including academic experience;Strong verbal/written communication skills;Highly motivated and creative, enjoys working in a collaborative research environment.This is a fixed-term position of up to 6 months and is inclusive of competitive salary and part-time benefits.
