General Overview:

This job leads the development of the strategy for Predictive Modeling and Data Science for the Organization. This includes: (a) collaborating with technology and architecture teams to ensure the analytics ecosystem supports the latest tools and technology, (b) regularly engaging senior executives to ensure the predictive modeling/ data science portfolio is aligned with their strategy needs and (c) leading a team of Data Scientists in the end-to-end delivery of predictive modeling/ data science projects (from use case design and sizing, to model build, all the way to deployment into the business and value capture. The incumbent will also be responsible for being an evangelist for the Organization in the market, attending external meetings as appropriate and talent/ recruiting events.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Perform management responsibilities including, but not limited to: involved in hiring and termination decisions, coaching and development, rewards and recognition, performance management and staff productivity.Plan, organize, staff, direct and control the day-to-day operations of the department; develop and implement policies and programs as necessary; may have budgetary responsibility and authority.

  • Lead Predictive Modeling and Data Science projects for the enterprise. This includes prioritization and oversight of projects conducted by Data Scientists, connect with Executive Customers to maintain relationships regarding current and upcoming work efforts, and follow-up with end-users to ensure solutions are adopted and have the intended impact.

  • Develop and maintain internal team processes.That includes QA/ peer review processes, standard/ re-usable assets, model maintenance, etc..Management of Data Scientists is similar to management of managers so coordinating a group of individuals independently conducting their work is key.

  • Collaborate with technology and architecture partners to ensure that our analytic ecosystem meets the needs of the Data Scientists, including on-boarding of new technology and data sources.

  • Maintain a network of external connections to help with innovation.Continuously scan for new technologies and/ or data sources to help enhance our analytics.Co-lead partnerships with CMU around R&D and analytic innovation.

  • Other duties as assigned or requested.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Statistics, Advanced Analytics, Mathematics, Mechanical Engineering, or Related Field

  • 10 years in Advanced Data Analytics

  • 5 years in management role

To Include:

  • 5 years in the Healthcare Industry

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Doctorate Degree in Advanced Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Engineering, or Related Field

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Financial analysis/modeling

  • Statistical/quantitative modeling

  • Executive communication

  • Direct report development/talent management

  • Collaboration across matrix organizational structure

  • Analytics

  • Leadership

  • Knowledge of Python, Java, R, and/or Scala

  • Proficiency with big data tools such as Hadoop, SparkMap Reduce, Pig, Solr

  • Basic proto-typing/front end skills such as RShiny, Flask, Django

  • Data analytics, including the development of data-driven predictive models

  • Proficient operating in a Linux environment and with basic shell scripting

  • Proficient command of SQL

  • Demonstrated knowledge of concepts of power analysis, hypothesis testing, inference
