Kforce Remote Embedded Software Engineering Manager in Phoenix, Arizona

Kforce's client, a growing nationwide company is seeking a Remote Embedded Software Engineering Manager. We are working directly with the Hiring Manager. This position is 100% remote.Summary:This role will be responsible for high-level design architecture of embedded application and operating system level software for various communication products and managing the corresponding team for product development, improvement and maintenance. The candidate will demonstrate a successful track record, knowledge of and experience with application software development on Linux, and high proficiency in C and C . The Embedded Software Engineering Manager must be self-motivated, results driven, have experience managing a team, and able to work in a cross-functional team environment with limited supervision. Responsibilities:

  • Drive continuous improvement while coordinating, supervising, and leading a team of engineers

  • Work closely with Product Management and other departments in the definition and delivery of product and development roadmaps

  • Create, improve, debug, test and support embedded software for Transportation Systems and Communication products both in maintenance and new development

  • Perform and lead all aspects of development including embedded system design, data communications, real-time data collection, processing and control, testing, interfacing drivers and peripherals

  • Manage project and product specifications, resources, quality assurance and timelines

  • Responsible for the functional integrity and proper operation of all assigned systems prior to and post release

  • Work with stakeholders to communicate new firmware/software features and improvements

  • BS degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science or related field from an accredited college or technical institute

  • 7-10 years of professional software development experience in a team environment

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience leading and managing a software development team

  • Application development for Linux-based embedded systems

  • Extensive knowledge of firmware systems and their integration with hardware platforms

  • High proficiency in C and C programming languages

  • Knowledge of serial, network and USB communications

  • Experience with communication protocols (i.e. SDLC, RS-232, NTCIP, SNMP, STMP and HDLC)

  • Strong debugging and problem-solving skills

  • Additional operating system level Linux experience is a plus (i.e. porting, device drivers, and kernel updates)

  • Transportation industry experience is a plus but not required.
