The incumbent is required to define, coordinate, and perform integration of avionics changes and modifications to any of the experimental test aircraft. The FTE maintains overall configuration control of avionics changes and other electrical modifications (as needed) to the FTB within the established flight test engineering processes. Specifically, the FTE should be able to develop an overall top-level understanding of the existing avionics systems and the integration of future alterations, changes and modifications in the form of service bulletins, STCs or flight test alterations or avionics data acquisition. The FTE is also responsible for the preparation of engineering drawings such as system schematics, wiring diagrams, wire harness drawings. Work closely with flight test engineers and technicians to ensure timely completion of avionics flight test projects. Assist instrumentation engineer(s) and technicians in support of flight test activities generally and specifically for those tests involving avionics and ARINC / digital bus communications. Drive the development of flight test procedures for avionics test programs. Assist flight operations maintenance staff with tasks such as troubleshooting and discrepancy rectification. And planning and implementing service bulletins, airworthiness directives or other OEM defined engineering involving avionics.

YOU MUST HAVE

  • Bachelors or Degree in Engineering

  • 4 years of experience in engineering

  • Able to maintain an FAA Class III or equivalent medical

  • Strong written and oral communications skills - able to transcend level and functions

  • Strong problem-solving skills including leadership experience

  • Ability to work in team environment and to lead as needed

  • Ability to adapt rapidly to change and to help lead change efforts

  • Strict adherence to sound engineering standards

  • Technical proficiency with Microsoft Office software

  • Proficiency with 2D drafting software

  • Experience with aircraft wiring standards and best practices

  • Experience with avionics system integration

  • Demonstrated Six Sigma - Green Belt or higher certification or the ability to attain this certification
