The Manufacturing Floor Leader is responsible for overseeing the production process and ensuring the

efficient operation of the manufacturing floor. This role involves supervising the production team,

coordinating workflow, monitoring the quality of the work product, and implementing safety and efficiency

measures to accomplish project milestones. The Manufacturing Floor Leader plays a crucial role in

meeting production targets, maintaining quality standards, and ensuring a safe working environment for

all employees and must be deadline-driven.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Supervision and Team Leadership

 Lead and supervise 2-3 operation Supervisors to ensure they are motivated, trained, and

working efficiently.

 Assign tasks, set performance goals, and provide regular feedback to team members.

 Provide daily direction and technical assistance to their team.

 Foster a positive work environment that encourages teamwork, communication, and

collaboration among employees.

 Customer stakeholder interface, ability to manage 360 degrees (report up the

management chain, interact with the customer, effectively communicate, and lead

employees)

 Implement culture of continuous improvement

 Must be able to garner implicit trust and make decisions on behalf of Rhoads Industries,

Inc., and the execution of the project.

 Manage individual performance of supervision, develop their technical and leadership

skills.

  1. Production Management

 Plan and organize production schedules to meet customer demands and deadlines.

 Monitor production process and adjust schedules as needed to optimize efficiency.

 Ensure the production team follows standard operating procedures and meets quality

control standards.

 Identify and resolve production issues in a timely manner to minimize down time and

maintain production output.

 Strong project management skills (budget savvy, estimating hours to complete, resolution

and problem solver.

 Ensure that assigned projects meet budget and schedule requirements.

 Provide input on manpower needs to the department manager.

 Improve workforce capabilities by identifying knowledge gaps, implementing training and employee development: plan and execute training within the shop.

  1. Quality Control

 Implement quality control measures to ensure work products meet specified standards.

 Conduct regular inspections of work products and production processes to identify

defects or deviations from quality standards.

 Collaborate with quality control staff to address and resolve quality issues promptly.

 Drive first time quality by monitoring overall quality performance, performing surveillances

of work execution and apply corrective actions to address deficiencies.

  1. Safety and Compliance

 Enforce safety protocols and guidelines to create a safe working environment for all

employees.

 Train and educate production staff on safety procedures and practices.

 Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and company

policies and are followed by all department personnel.

  1. Inventory Management

 Coordinate with the purchasing team to ensure an adequate supply of materials and

consumables for production.

 Minimize waste and optimize inventory turnover rates.

  1. Process Improvement

 Identify opportunities for process optimization and efficiency improvements.

 Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and reduce costs.

 Collaborate with other departments/customer partners to streamline production process.

 Drive innovation and continuous improvement efforts to support program goals.

  1. Reporting and Documentation

 Maintain accurate production records, including daily logs/outputs, downtime, and quality

control data.

 Manage project budgets utilizing Earned Value Management Systems

 Generate reports on production performance, highlighting key metrics and areas for

improvement.

 Communicate production updates and issues to management as necessary.

EDUCATION:

 Required:

o Associates or bachelor’s in engineering, construction management, and or a Minimum 5

year’s Trade Experience.

 Preferred:

o Facilities Management Experience

QUALIFICATIONS:

 Required:

o At least three years Supervisory/Foreman experience in Manufacturing or

Construction Management, Aerospace, Defense.

o US Citizenship Required; must also be able to obtain a DoD Secret Security

clearance.

o Willing to work all shifts as required.

 Proven experience in ship building (Fitting/Welding), Large Fabrication with a strong

understanding of production processes and quality control standards.

 Excellent leadership and team management skills.

 Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.

 Knowledge of safety protocols and regulatory requirements related to manufacturing operations.

 Proficiency in using computer software for production planning and reporting.

 Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

 The performance of this position involves exposure to construction or industrial areas where the

use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, hard hats and hearing protection is

required.

 Must be able to work in a variety of physical positions, including sitting, standing, walking, and

driving in an automobile.

 May require walking and standing on irregular, uneven surfaces in an industrial setting and

possibly at increased heights climbing and descending ladders and ship stairways, reaching,

twisting, kneeling, Color Vision.
