Reference #: 22138Job DetailsJob LocationPHILADELPHIA, PA - ,Position TypeFull TimeandnbspA-Team Solutions LLC is seeking Certified Phlebotomists to work Monday-Friday, 7:30am-4:00pm or 8:00am-4:30pm shifts, in the VA Healthcare system.Duties and Responsibilities:Perform phlebotomy (venipuncture) and urine specimen collection on patients ranging from minimally to critically ill who may be hard to draw.Work as a phlebotomy technician, obtaining venous blood specimens from adults using knowledge of human anatomy, aseptic technique, and phlebotomy material selection (i.e. vacutainer, syringe, butterfly).Use judgment in selection of phlebotomy site based upon the patient's condition, age group, and type of test to be performed.Prepare phlebotomy site for proper specimen collection, based upon knowledge of blood specimen types, request forms, anticoagulants and transport conditions testing procedures.Assist in training other personnel (employees and student trainees) in proper phlebotomy and specimen collection techniques.Perform processing procedures (centrifugation, splitting specimens into aliquots under the guidance of others, requiring knowledge of the correct type tube, amount of specimen needed, and procedure to be followed according to the test requested).Perform glucose tolerance testing by administering pretest substances, drawing blood at specific time intervals.Assist in disinfecting and closing the Phlebotomy Room at the end of the shift.Contact Medical Staff in handling patients in cases of fainting, convulsions, and illness.Convey to the patient the intention of performing a phlebotomy while showing understanding and empathy for the patient's condition.Read and adhere to standard operating procedures in laboratory processes.Communicate clearly to team members and senior management the daily status and problems of the laboratory output.Other Certified Phlebotomist duties as assigned.Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K, FSAJob RequirementsCompletion of a National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS) Certified Phlebotomy Training ProgramMinimum of one (1) year phlebotomy experience in an inpatient or outpatient setting; Experience with accessioning of laboratory specimensBasic Life Support (BLS) certificationAdvanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certificationHigh school graduateExperience using computersMust be authorized to work in U.S.Must provide the following: 1) A negative Tuberculosis Skin Test (TST) or interferon-gamma release assays (IGRA). A negative chest radiographic report for active tuberculosis shall be provided in cases of positive TST or IGRA results. The TST or IGRA testing shall be repeated annually. 2) Immunization for measles, mumps, rubella or a rubella titer of 1.8 or greater. 3) Proof of immunity to Varicella. 4) Proof of 1 dose of Tdap vaccination. 5) Proof of the annual Influenza vaccine unless it is contraindicated.
