A Snapshot of Your Day
Typical day for Commodity Management professional includes negotiation with suppliers, supplier relationship management, business case and sourcing strategy preparation/execution, reporting, problem solving, supply chain risk mitigation as well as alignment meetings with internal/external x-functional team.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Lead the Commodity Circle in respective area of responsibility with support of cross-functional team members
Commodity Management
Manage the commodities for respective area of responsibility
Define the Ecosystem strategy in the respective area of responsibility with cross functional counterparts and support from GCMs and in alignment with business
Ensure transparency on cost structures and spend in area of responsibility via Commodity Circles
Create and implement business specific initiatives and measures based on respective commodity strategy in alignment with Ecosystem strategy and business objectives
Increase Managed Spend in the area of responsibility by safeguarding awardings following the defined commodity strategy
Maintain competitive supply base in alignment with Ecosystem strategy and Commodity Circle
Execute periodic strategic procurement activities – negotiations planning, commodity strategy updates, awarding strategy and sourcing board approvals, quarterly review meetings, etc.
Prepare, negotiate, award and make available frame contracts & price lists for strategic suppliers in accordance with business and market requirements (in alignment with GCM)
Manage the relationship with assigned strategic suppliers (in alignment with GCM)
Generate, document and implement savings measures, monitor and report relevant KPI
Drive early procurement / supplier involvement and cost out activities via respective Commodity Circles
Identify procurement risks and opportunities and implement respective measures
Feedback supplier market information and knowledge to stakeholders through network
Drive supply/supplier management processes (e.g., qualification, selection, evaluation, development, classification)
What You Bring
BA/BS- in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering or related field.
A minimum of 8+ years’ of collective experience working in Supply Chain, Purchasing, Sourcing, Engineering or similar function in machinery industries.
Strategic thinking and analytical skills:
Experience utilizing financial and data-driven techniques to make decisions.
Strong Communication & interpersonal skills:
Understand main mechanical manufacturing processes and be able to communicate basic mechanical topics with supplier and internal cross functions.
Know-how of procurement related processes, systems and tools:
Familiar with SAP and Productivity Management System.
Advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications, specifically Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.
Cost & risk management skills:
Mature understanding of multiple aspects of supply chain value stream.
Supplier financial risk evaluation & management.
Supply Chain Risk evaluation & management.
Commodity & product knowledge:
Individual must be able to quickly develop comprehensive understanding of each commodity, and subsequentially complex sourcing strategies.
Commercial knowledge, contract law and T&C. Experience managing Long Term Contracts and negotiating complex terms and conditions.
Negotiations and supplier relations management experience
Good problem solving, results oriented
Ability to work effectively in a matrixed global organization
Must be able to travel 10-15% both domestically and internationally.
Must be willing to learn and drive a change in a global environment, along with ability to influence through effective verbal and written communication skills.
Collaborative approach to working within a team environment; a consensus builder
Strong organizational and time management skills
Preferred:
Knowledge of Power Generation Industry
Data Analysis/Science skills
