Allocations Specialist

We are currently recruiting for an Allocations Specialist to join the Benchmade Knife Company team.

The Allocations Specialist is responsible for managing all inventory allocation in order to fulfill current and upcoming Benchmade customer shipments. This role will act as a liaison between multiple areas of the business, including Customer Service, Operations, Supply Chain, Accounting, IT and Shipping/Receiving. This role requires a critical thinker, possessing analytical skills, and attaining autonomy in allocation decisions are essential to the success of this position. The Allocations Specialist is also passionate for finding small wins at the order level and translating them into larger wins that drive the profitability and productivity of the entire company.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for managing the daily customer order allocations & shipment printing, ensuring that prioritization rules are followed to maximize the daily revenue for the business

  • Assist the sales team with the daily organization and modifications needed to order.

  • Ability to assess and analyze available inventory to determine how to distribute most efficiently to fulfill customer orders

  • Work with the supply planners and the DC to ensure a proactive stance is taken to allow special event related product are built and shipped to meet customer expectations

  • Responsible for maintaining, tracking, analyzing and status checks all customer order fulfillment activities

  • Train new and existing employees on the general customer allocation process and how the allocation reporting system is integrated into that process

  • Identifying gaps in the current workflow and determining methods for continuous improvement

  • Prioritize focus on the top constrained products to ensure sales are maximized through detailed line level allocations, highlighting any trends to Sales operations manager.

  • Partner with Sales team to improve business processes associated with, planning, allocation, and overall supply chain processes

  • Partners with Sales operations manager to ensure Item/SKU End-of-Life strategies are carried out to minimize the cost of obsolescence.

  • Responsible for maintain orders for maximum revenue daily.

  • Initiate data analytics that will highlight recommendations to drive sales and profit margins.

  • Produce and analyze ad-hoc reports when required, providing recommendations as appropriate

  • Generate and analyze the allocation reports daily through Benchmade’s ERP system, SYSPRO


  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain or other Business related degree, and 3-4 years of experience working in an order fulfillment and/or inventory allocation environment, preferably in manufacturing and/or consumer goods is required. Equivalency to the qualification standard will also be considered.

  • Requires experience in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, preferably SYSPRO

  • Experience in reporting and data analysis

  • Requires excellent written and verbal communication, critical thinking, and analytical skills

  • Ability to work and make decisions independently or take direction from a team

  • Ability to Build and maintain effective working relationship with key partners across the business, with particular emphasis on the Sales, Retail, Analytics, Supply planning, and DC teams
