NTH Consultants, Ltd. Structural Assistant Project Engineer in Northville, Michigan

Develop and prepare proposals for engineering services related to infrastructure systems. Define the scope of services for field investigations to evaluate specific issues related to infrastructure performance. Define the scope of services for evaluating, engineering, and design for infrastructure or building envelope repairs and/or component replacement. Prepare proposal fee estimates and project schedules based on the scope of services. Prepare, deliver, and discuss proposal documents with clients. Prepare and review professional reports, contract documents, design details, and technical specifications for repairs. Plan, organize, and write assessment reports describing the assessment, evaluation, findings, and conclusions, as well as conceptual repair recommendations, together with a preliminary opinion of probable construction costs. Plan, organize, supervise, and conduct field studies and materials testing programs. Assess feasibility and soundness of proposed restoration/maintenance activities. Engineer and design for the restoration and/or replacement of infrastructure components while considering the client's budget and schedule, impacts on their operations, constructability, product and material availability, other related work, and/or logistics. Coordinate construction quality control services, conduct periodic site visits, and review daily field reports prepared by others. Perform administrative tasks including reviewing contractor submittals and substitutions, responding to requests for information (RFIs), and preparing addendums/bulletins for unforeseen scope changes or clarifications. Conduct pre-proposal, pre-construction, and construction progress meetings, and prepare meeting minutes. Develop and present project-specific or technical seminars / webinars to technical organizations, clients, and in-house staff.

Remote work permitted 15% of the time. Domestic travel to various unanticipated US project sites required up to 30% of the time.
