New York Life Insurance Company Technology Vendor Management Specialist in New York, New York

This role will sit within the Technology Strategic Partnerships Office and report directly to the head of the Vendor Management Center for Enablement. As a Specialist on our team, you will utilize our framework of market-standard Vendor Management disciplines (Performance, Contract, Relationship, Risk, and Financial Management) to develop, implement, and optimize an suite of innovative supplier governance methodologies for critical Technology service suppliers at New York Life. This is a high-visibility role which provides the opportunity to engage a broad group of key NYL Technology stakeholders, including Executive Officers and Functional Leads.

Responsibilities include:

  • Working across Technology and the greater NYL organization to manage, improve and mature the process and foundation for measuring and reporting supplier performance

  • Building and managing a strategic reporting and analysis structure that includes action-based metrics, KPIs, and exception reporting

  • Identifying and executing opportunities to optimize contingent labor costs

  • Partnering with the NYL Corporate Procurement organization to manage and govern supplier rate cards

  • Researching external news including risks, opportunities, market trends, competitor strategies, etc.

  • Managing a pipeline of upcoming contracts

  • Governing an annual supplier goal setting process

  • Managing supplier-related risk and interfacing with Third Party Risk Management organization to facilitate the adoption of enterprise-wide policies and standards across Technology

  • Interfacing with the NYL Contingent Worker Office to drive the adoption of enterprise-wide policies and standards

  • Partnering with the Corporate Finance organization on invoice payment and reconciliation, penalties, performance credits, etc. and support financial information for budgeting and forecasting

Experience

  • 3+ years of experience.

  • Previous Vendor Management experience preferred but not required.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong ability to influence and work with senior executives

  • Proficient in PC software packages, such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Email and Internet applications

  • Experience with enterprise reporting tools (e.g. Tableau)

  • Ability to think 'out of the box' and challenge the status quo

  • Ability to navigate ambiguity

  • Ability to work effectively in a matrixed environment

  • Strong interpersonal & organization skills along with strong analytical and problem solving skills
