Department Profile

The Fixed Income Division (FID) is comprised of Interest Rate and Currency Products, Credit Products and Distribution. Professionals in the Division assess and actively manage risk, trade securities, and structure and execute innovative transactions in the fast-paced and constantly changing global markets. The E-Rates Division is a market leader in making electronic markets in US Treasury Bonds.

Primary Responsibilities

  • **Research, development, and deployment of new MS electronic trading algorithms with direct impact on desk PnL.
  • Strong collaboration with trading desk to discuss new trading ideas (including alpha research) and modelling.
  • Strong Quantitative development skills, especially in Java and Python.
  • Ownership and maintenance of research projects (includes performance monitoring, recalibration depending on market conditions, etc)
  • Strong collaboration with IT to co-ordinate delivery and contribute to trading framework

  • **Advanced degree in a quantitative field such as Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Engineering, or Computer Science.

  • 2-5 years' experiencein eTrading or eTrading development (US Rates, EU Rates, FX, or Equities)
  • Strong technical skills (Q/kdb, Python, SQL, Git) for statistical and econometric analysis
  • Strong communication (role requires effective collaboration and consensus-building across a range of functional groups)
  • Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to present complex issues clearly, both verbally and in writing, is essential
  • Attention to detail and the ability to work thoughtfully and independently and manage multiple projects Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $200,000 - $250,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
