Job Descriptions:
W. W. Norton is seeking a proactive, detail-oriented Business Operations Assistant to join the College Department. This position collaborates closely with the College Business Manager and Director of Financial Analysis and will work on a wide range of business operations, data analysis, and administrative tasks. The ideal candidate is organized and analytical, has strong communication skills, is comfortable with information systems, and thrives in a fast-paced, evolving environment working with a wide range of people.
Essential Job Responsibilities Include:
Assist in the creation of new P&Ls and the revisions of current ones. Analyze actual expenses against budgeted estimated costs
Download data from internal sales and costs systems and maintain P&Ls for hundreds of college department titles
Process departmental invoices on a weekly basis, making sure they were approved at a college meeting or are within a budget. Make sure all expenses are coded to the proper place and book
Assist in updating College title prices twice a year
Provide reports for monthly sales, inventory backorders, and ad hoc requests
Assist business teams with calculation of bonus payouts for both higher ed and high school sales reps
Assist the Director of Financial Analysis and College Business Manager on any and all sales operations projects and sales data management
Conduct and manage market data-analysis projects assigned by Director of Financial Analysis or College Business Manager
Assist other college department teams on special projects and support related to sales data and analysis as needed
Track departmental AMEX charges
Assist with various business data projects

Required Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree
Must be able to work from Norton’s New York City Headquarters

Excellent organizational, verbal, analytical and written communications skills
Good attention to detail
