Job Description:

The Transportation, Logistics and Marine Shipping Research team has been ranked among the top research teams on Wall Street 20x for its coverage of the sector (15x in Transports, 5x in Shipping). The team is looking for a Associate to be based in New York, NY. This role offers the opportunity to interact with senior executives, institutional investors, traders, investment bankers and wealth advisors while cultivating an invaluable and varied skill-set that includes quantitative and qualitative analysis, financial modeling, written and oral communication skills, industry knowledge and insight. The ideal candidate will have between 3-5 years of experience in markets, with a preference for experience focusing on industrial or transportation sectors. The associate works alongside their Senior Analyst and Junior Analyst peers in all aspects from idea generation to company meetings, and will play a critical part in providing supporting analysis for meetings, sales teach-ins and eventual coverage launch.

Responsibilities

  • Perform complex financial modeling & valuation work

  • Write regular industry and company reports from scratch

  • Develop databases integral to our research product

  • Demonstrate strong industry knowledge and business judgment

  • Work with Senior Analysts to develop key industry themes

  • Build relationships and facilitate information flow with contacts at covered companies

  • Participate and contribute to client meetings and events

  • Attend meetings and interact with key opinion leaders

  • Closely follow and understand market, industry and company specific activity, and relay to analyst when traveling

  • Seek out new, unusual sources of information

  • Leverage our robust network of industry contacts

  • Interact regularly with clients

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree / MBA-preferable

  • 3-5 years of experience focusing in equity research, wholesale credit, accounting, buy side experience or investment banking experience

  • Strong writing and modeling skills.Must be an expert at MS Word and MS Excel

  • Must be able to thrive in a fast-paced and intense environment.

  • Must have excellent communications skills, written and verbal

  • Must enjoy following the stock market and doing desktop and field research

  • Along with Finance and Accounting, should have basic understanding of economics, macroeconomic factors, and policy/politics

  • Must have strong attention to detail, ability to multi-task

  • Must work well in a collaborative team environment
