Purpose and Essential Duties :

The Sr. Project Controls Specialist provides oversight of project Planning, Scheduling and Project Cost Analysis throughout design, engineering and delivery phases. Focusing on continual improvement and opportunities for risk mitigation is a key responsibility of this position. The ideal candidate should be a proactive self-starter with a proven ability to work independently and efficiently, while also engaging closely with Operations Project Teams, Bernhard Executives, Subcontractors, and Clients. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Provide onsite oversight in the areas of scheduling, cost management, change management, and risk management.

  • Support design, procurement, and construction evaluation, and analysis

  • Evaluate proposals and changes

  • Project schedule updates, maintenance, review, and analysis

  • Technical guidance for decisions by key stakeholders

  • Develop and refine protocols for the program

  • Maintain outstanding issues logs and coordinate follow up as necessary

  • Assist with document management, data capture, and reporting

  • Assist with risk assessment for the project, including risk and opportunity analysis for all phases of the program.

  • Evaluation of construction means and methods

  • Help develop and perform feasibility studies

  • Interact with the Operations team and represent Bernhard and its partners in the best manner to owners, subcontractors, and their representatives

  • Utilize analytics to identify and report on project trends

  • Travel to project sites, as necessary

This position is Full Time Exempt, and reports to the Business Unit Manager.

Required Education, Experience and Qualifications :

  • Undergraduate or graduate degree in engineering, architecture, construction management or a degree in a related discipline.

  • 10+ years of experience in a project engineer, or similar role in the construction industry, experience with a general contractor preferred.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of scheduling, cost engineering, subcontract coordination, and general project administration.

  • Familiarity reading drawings and specifications.

  • Computer proficient, including Microsoft Office products.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

  • Team player and reliable.

  • Interest and passion for building and the industry.

  • Detail oriented with ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

  • Skilled at developing and maintaining relationships with owners, subcontractors, senior leaders and project teams.

  • Detail-oriented and willing to tackle various ongoing projects in a fast-paced environment.

  • Well-versed in the industry and the Company’s competitors.

  • Excellent multitasking skills, with the ability to perform duties outside of the scope of work when necessary.

  • Travel Requirements :

Infrequent travel to Company locations. Approximately, 10% of time will be spent traveling.
