Edwards Lifesciences Director of Finance (FP&A) – Shared Services & Advanced Tech in New Mexico, United States

Edwards Lifesciences is offering an exciting Director of Finance opportunity in our Corporate Financial Planning & Analysis department. Reporting directly to the Vice President of FP&A, this leader will provide a challenging, rewarding and learning environment for the FP&A Shared Services team. In this role, this individual will both ensure the team provides world-class finance business partnership to our corporate functional departments, as well as serving directly as the lead finance partner to the Corporate Vice President of Advanced Technology. This role involves significant interaction with executive and senior leaders.

FP&A Shared Services Team Leadership responsibilities

  • Manage and develop an experienced team of high-performing finance professionals

  • Ensure that the team delivers high quality consultative support to business leaders to meet their financial forecasting and operational needs

  • Ensure team’s deliverables for annual operating plans, forecasts, scenario analysis and decision support are delivered to business leaders in a timely and accurate manner, and are inclusive of financial insights

  • Support team and individual development, including providing coaching and assignments to provide opportunities for growth and enrichment

  • Collaborate with the Corporate Accounting department on month-end close and other responsibilities to ensure timely and accurate reporting

  • Oversee the preparation of key presentations for executive leaders

  • Drive innovation to streamline and automate manual work

  • Identify and implement ways to materially improve efficiency

  • Lead department or enterprise-wide global financial projects and ensure successful completion; provide guidance and expertise on projects

Finance Partner for Advanced Technology group responsibilities:

  • Provide insights and decision support to Chief Scientific Officer and Advanced Technology leadership team, including scoping of business issues and providing financial analysis relating to internal and external investments such as new product programs and technology acquisitions

  • Support cross-functional budgeting and planning for engineering, clinical affairs and medical affairs groups, which are close partners with the Advanced Technology team

  • Support strategic planning and budgeting for Edwards’ Centers of Excellence, which are distinct teams advancing technology developments in proprietary fields including tissue processing, catheters, specialty metals and others

  • Deliver financial intelligence including scenario analysis, NPV/ROI, trade-offs analysis, and benchmarking

  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting, including month-end close

  • Lead financial forecasting for monthly forecasts and annual operating plan

  • Partner with functional leader and corporate strategy team on long-range strategic planning

  • Lead long-term prospective revenue forecasting

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Strategy

  • Experience within a large, global, manufacturing organization

  • Proven ability to scope business issues and provide financial analysis relating to internal and external investments

  • Demonstrated success in providing consultative support to business leaders to meet their financial forecasting and operational needs

  • Experience as a people leader with direct reports

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree or equivalent in Finance, Accounting, or related field

  • Related professional certifications such as CPA, CFA

  • Medical device or healthcare industry experience

  • Proven leadership skills

  • Demonstrated ability in successful people management

  • Strong business acumen

  • Must be able to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment

  • Proven ability to meet tight deadlines in an environment of competing priorities

  • Problem-solving, process improvement, analytical and collaborative skills

  • Proactive, self-motivated

  • Strong communication skills

  • Advanced MS Excel, and PowerPoint proficiency

  • Advanced financial system experience
