Johnson & Johnson is recruiting for a Senior Manager, Data Science to join an emerging Data Science team operating as startup within the Corporate Business Technology organization to provide machine learning/AI platforms, build models and research methodologies applied across a variety Corporate JNJ functions including Global Finance, Procurement, Legal, Global Brand Protection, Acquisitions and Divestitures, HR, Global Services, Health Care Compliance & Privacy, Facilities and others. In addition to working on impactful projects, we share, discuss, and implement the latest approaches in ML, deep learning, time series, hierarchical classification, recommendation systems, graphs and networks, unsupervised approaches, automation, etc. as well as MLOps infrastructure.

The Senior Manager, Data Science will work at the intersection of business & technology to implement data strategies and technology solutions to deliver business outcomes. You will have the opportunity to lead a team, work hands on, and participate in ML/AI sharing and testing of the latest methods.
In this role, your responsibilities would focus on:
Helping to shape vision and determining priorities for building the data science capabilities from conception to production
Leading and building Machine Learning and A.I. models to generate business value
Working with business and technology partners to identify business priorities and product needs
Working on and leading teams of Data Scientists and Machine Learning Engineers
Assist with and manage Machine Learning operations (MLOps) lifecycle: model deployment, model monitoring framework
Provide leadership in ML software development: design model class and repo templates, lead team to maintain repository of models/api’s, feature libraries, and provide leadership to other Data Scientists on building maintainable code
Guide development and standardize reusable tools and packages
Supervise daily execution and delivery from start to completion
Delivering projects aligned to the data strategy vision, goals and business value, monitoring the progress of program components to ensure overall goals, schedule, budget, and benefits of the program are achieved and alignment with J&J processes and standards.
Continuously searching for ways to eliminate inefficiencies while streamlining costs to reinvest in new innovations through technology lifecycle management & total cost of ownership
Drive innovation & thought leadership by anticipating & responding to rapidly changing industry trends, translating relevant insights into solutions that add new value
Forge trusted partnerships with external partners, other JJT technology practitioners & data scientists across the business sectors & the enterprise, taking advantage of our collective expertise to deliver the best solutions
Role is based in vicinity of New York, NY with preference for ability to be onsite in New Brunswick, NJ at least once a week.Remote work options may be considered on a case-by-case basis and if approved by the Company
BA/BS degree required (preferably in information technology or a related technical field)
5+ years experience building Data Science or Machine Learning or AI (deep learning) models
3+ years of experience leading large-scale data and analytics initiatives, including data discovery, business intelligence, analytics, data quality management, metadata management, and related fields
Experience using common deep learning packages such as PyTorch, tensorflow, Keras and common libraries such as huggingface, as well as Scikit-Learn, pandas, xgboost, etc. in Linux environment
Familiarity with MLOps lifecycle, technologies or experience maintaining models
Experience applying & implementing solutions with the following data science concepts and domains: Classification, Regression, Deep Learning, NLP, and/or unsupervised methods
Excellence in software development: repo creation, package templates, commenting, best practice in code design, building common tools
Ability to present complicated analytical material in a concise and compelling manner
Technical skills or familiarity with cloud computing platforms like AWS or Azure
Demonstrated experience in examining issues, crafting strategy & influencing effectively across the organization, driving people, process & technology change.
Experience with relational databases, data warehouses, operational data stores, in-memory databases, SQL and noSQL technologies and concepts
Experience applying concepts of Agile solutioning to rapidly deliver value through user design, prototyping, Minimal Viable Product & continuous improvement.
Ability to travel up to 10% of the time.
Advanced degree in quantitative field (Computer Science, Statistics, Engineering, Math, Physics, Economics, etc.)
6+ years experience building Data Science or Machine Learning or AI(deep learning) models
Direct previous experience deploying models in modern frameworks such as: managed containers (ie docker, Kubernetes), or platforms such as databricks, domino, seldon, AWS sagemaker, Azure ML, etc.
Technical scope of knowledge includes a broad understanding of solutions including machine learning, artificial intelligence & data science.
Experience in all phases of an established SDLC and/or AGILE methodologies
Collaborative filtering deep learning approaches, recommendation systems, time series
Familiarity with graph neural nets
Experience in information-intensive industries or digitally advanced enterprises
Effective interpersonal & communication skills (oral & written), including the ability to explain digital concepts & technologies to business leaders, as well as business concepts to technologists.
Demonstrated ability to lead a team across business & technical areas. Ability to succeed in a matrixed environment & influence adoption of new thinking
