A Dev/Research Engineer is needed for a world leading manufacturer of construction and mining equipment, diesel and natural gas engines, industrial gas turbines and diesel-electric locomotives in the Mossville, IL area. The main function of a research engineer is to research and investigate the design, functionality and maintenance of mechanical products, equipment, systems and processes.

location: Mossville, Illinois

job type: Contract

salary: $35.83 - 50.16 per hour

work hours: 8am to 5pm

education: Bachelors

responsibilities:

• Research, design, develop, and test tools, transmissions, axles, and other mechanical devices.

• Investigate equipment failures and difficulties to diagnose faulty operation and make recommendation to maintenance crew.

• Collaborating with product design team to define test requirements

• Preparing test units for lab testing

• Performing lab tests to validate components from a performance and durability (product quality) perspective

• Interactions with numerous process partners

Skills:

• Demonstrated mechanical experience, good hands-on skills.

• strong data analysis experience.

• Ability to plan and specify needed mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, control system, and measurement capabilities for building and updating test stands.

• Data acquisition experience.

• Test and analysis automation skills (Matlab and/or VBA scripting preferred).

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering required.

• 2-4 years of work experience.
