Eaton Corporation Technical Writer in Moon Township, Pennsylvania
Eaton’s Electrical Sector is currently seeking a Technical Writer to join our team. This position is based at our Moon Township, PA location.
As a Technical Communicator/Writer for Software Products within Eaton’s Digital Office, you will be primarily responsible for documenting aspects of software related products and services. This is a highly impactful position within Eaton that will provide you with great visibility throughout the entire organization and opportunities for career advancement.

In this role you will:
Gain an understanding of select software products and how they are used over the intended product lifecycle.
Create exceptional documentation including online user assistance, tutorials, reference content, release notes, troubleshooting information, install instructions, FAQs, and known issues.
Create learning resources, including demos, tutorials, and FAQs.
Author user interface content.
Publish release notes that include product updates and fixes and coach software developers to write effective release notes.
Edit developer-written content for consistency.
Track and manage issues to ensure deadlines are met and deliverables are completed on time.
Collaborate with internal teams, including Development, Engineering, Quality Assurance, Product Management, Product Marketing and Customer Success, to coordinate deliverables and priorities.
Collaborate with software development engineers and product designers to provide highly effective user documentation for new and existing features.
Forge relationships with internal and external customers and other stakeholders to gather feedback.
Author user interface content.
Utilize multiple forms of visual communication (e.g., video, graphic, written) as appropriate for effectiveness.
Establish “single source” written and visual content that is written once and used multiple times where appropriate.
Support the development of a content strategy for all documentation deliverables
Work with our internal Human Centered Design team to develop style guides, graphics standards, including technical system representations, standards for representing data, insights derived from data, dashboards, and information graphics generated from Internet of Things products and services.

Required (Basic) Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Technical Communication, Writing, Journalism, or related field of study from an accredited institution
3+ years of experience in Technical Writing or a related role in a software development organization
Proven track record of delivering high quality products on deadline.
No relocation benefit is offered for this position. Only candidates residing within the immediate geographical area (50 miles) from Moon Township PA will be considered for this position.
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future
Master’s Degree in Technical Communication, Writing, Journalism, or related field of study from an accredited institution
5+ years of experience in Technical Writing or a related role
Ability to quickly understand technical concepts and make them understandable
Excellent communication skills, including written, verbal and presentation
Basic familiarity with software development workflows and the software development lifecycle
Bias towards modern tools and methods
Highly detail oriented.
Ability to understand and estimate risks and obstacles
Abreast of upcoming software documentation trends
