Copeland Logistics Manager in MONTERREY, Mexico

This individual will develop an understanding of Copeland Logistics programs, transportation systems and processes. As well as the end-to-end overview of the Copeland Supply Chain Operations. This individual must possess strong communication, analytical, project management, and change management skills. Develop strong professional relationships with key strategic partners to ensure alignment between our organization and theirs.

PRINCIPAL FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Mode Team Leadership

  2. Project management related to the support of strategic planning for mode management for the Americas. Including regional tensioning plans, management of key in region providers and leadership for the center led regional mode teams.

  3. Lead the effort to negotiate contractual agreements with key regional providers. Develop policies and procedures to efficiently manage the administration of the contracting process within the respective mode.

  4. Develop KPI’s to measure the operational and cost performance of the regional mode.

  5. Operational performance within the regional modes is ultimately the responsibility of the respective regional leader. Train and empower business unit Logistics Leaders to resolve issues locally, but act as a point of escalation when mode specific issues are beyond the scope or ability of a single business unit Logistics Leader to resolve.

  6. Oversee and/or execute the data analysis required to ensure continuous operational improvement as measured by established KPI’s.

  7. Support the strategic mode team processes including the development of common processes for the selection, development, tensioning and implementation of transportation providers.

  8. Support cost reductions/ transportation optimization projects and carriers’ transitions.

  9. Monitor Supplier Data Metrics, engage carriers to improve OTD/ OTC performance. When necessary, coordinate recurrent calls with the carriers to improve the KPI’s.

  10. Assist in carrier training related to the various logistics tools.

  11. Oversight of the global provider risk mitigation process and reporting. Closely monitoring providers risk related to financials, legal and business requirements. (certifications, insurance etc.) Including taking the necessary actions to minimize Copeland’s exposure to potential supply chain disruptions.

  12. Communication and interactions Enterprise Logistics Leaders for matters pertaining to mode management.

  13. Logistics Operations

  14. Work closely with business unit Logistics and Supply Chain Leaders across the corporation to identify mode specific opportunities and implement long term, sustainable solutions to improve supply chain performance.

  15. Support Team Leader in projects to onboard Copeland sites into SCO, improve spend under management.

  16. Support the Operational Management of the Copeland Cross Dock Network.

  17. Coordination and resolution of issues related to the logistics network and the escalation of any critical issues to management.

  18. Support SCO Operational and Audit Pay Teams in any rate or carrier related inquiries.

  19. Spend Visibility

  20. Work with Business Units Freight Audit & Payment Manager as well as Mode Team members to ensure a collaborative freight audit, invoice approval, and payment process is conducted in a timely manner.

  21. With the Business Units, Carriers and Copeland’s audit & Payment provider to resolve any invoice/ procedural issues.

  22. Reporting of Key Metrics, participation in supply chain and logistics strategic meetings including the development and presentation of materials to management.

  23. Position requires regional and international travel (30%)

EDUCATION:

Minimum: bachelor’s degree in business, transportation, supply chain or related field or equivalent experience.

EXPERIENCE / SKILLS:

  1. +5 years’ experience in logistics or transportation management

  2. Excellent interpersonal communication skills are essential. Including appropriate language skills to ensure proper communication with the global program management team (English) and local plant personnel.

  3. Demonstrate an ability to drive operational change by working and excelling in a team environment and demonstrating an ability to interact across all levels of management within and outside the organization.

  4. Strong project management skills including analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

  5. Relentless pursuit of root cause identification and resolution.

  6. Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)

  7. Understands basic concepts of supply chain and information systems.

  8. Familiarity with transportation and supply chain concepts and systems. Knowledge of regional or local providers is desirable.

  9. Ability to multi-task and work in multi-disciplinary teams

  10. English and local language capabilities.
