Medtronic seeks a highly qualified trademark counsel to join ourIP team.Youll manage trademarkand copyrightmatters for multiple Medtronic operating units, and you will interact directly with business teams on product launches, including the protection of brands, trademarks,copyrightsand domain names. This position reports to the IP Director, TM.

A Day in the Life
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.
Managing a global trademark portfolio
Handle trademark disputes, including preparing cease and desist letters and other correspondence relating to IP infringements,manageoppositionsand cancellations;cansuccessfully negotiate resolutions of disputes; draft settlementagreements
Manage outside counsel handling TTAB proceedings and litigations and assist with anticounterfeit cases.
Review and analysis of global trademark searches for clearance of use on products
Draft and reviewlicensing andotheragreements, as needed, to supportbusiness operations
Develop strategic relationships with operating unit marketingteamsandenterprise branding and communication teams, and educate them on trademark and copyright basics
Manage outside counsel to accomplish key deliverables on time and on budget
Manage,implementand coordinate strategy that deals aggressively and systematically to protect the companys core brand identity throughout the world
Work with customs authorities, law enforcement agencies and legal representatives throughout the worldtoprevent the sale of counterfeit and copycat product, both online and offline
Support and advise on trademark and copyright issues that may arise in MA due diligence

Must Have: Minimum Requirements
5 years of experiencein trademark and copyright law
Licensed member in good standing to practice in at least one state
Nice to Have
Priorlitigation and/orin-house experience
Ability to effectively translate IP issues to members of the creative, marketing, business,managementand legal teams
Creativity, attention to detail, commitment to customer service and excellent communication skills
Strong multi-tasking skills and the ability to prioritize effectively to meet deadlines
Able to thrive in ambiguity and make decisions amidst multiple, competing demands and activities
A proactive partner with a pragmatic, solutions-oriented, and curious mindset
Working knowledge of PowerPoint,Exceland Word applications
