About the team

The Data Design Analysis team serves the data needs of WIM (Wealth Investment Management) product groups, applications & business users. The engineers of the team are responsible for understanding and analyzing complex business & data requirements. Perform Data Discovery, Data Profiling, create Source-to-Target Mapping and Technical Data Definition that drives overall database design to deliver solutions that meet business requirements. Perform impact analysis of change by developing a broad understanding of the upstream and downstream systems and processes. Become subject matter expert on helping develop data models, review and advice testing approach and data validations for systems testing.

The team helps develop content for metadata and end to end data lineage in support of Data Governance, ownership and stewardship program. As a data SME, answer questions, help resolve issue and achieve data quality expectations. Provide support to the leadership team on achieving strategic and tactical goals.

The candidate

The candidate needs to have broad experience of design, code, test, debug and document programs with the focused expertise of deep data analysis, ETL development & support of a large database environment such as Oracle, Teradata or DB2. Expected to have broad knowledge of other technology engineering disciplines. Translates technology experience, knowledge of the organizations business objectives, the enterprise technological environment, the organization structure, requirements into technical engineering solutions. A resource for architects in the development of target architectures to ensure that they can be properly designed and implemented through sound engineering practices. Provides support to the senior technology leadership, advises and mentors others with the goal of knowledge transfer. May represent Wells Fargo to external industry groups, influencing industry standards.

Required Qualifications, US:

  • 4+ years of Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

  • 5+ years of software engineering experience

  • 5+ years of experience with databases such as Oracle, DB2, SQL server, or Teradata

  • 5 + years of experience supporting or designing complex ETL production environments

  • 5+ years of experience in one or a combination of the following: Ab Initio, DataStage, Informatica

  • 5+ years of data analysis experience

  • 3+ years of PL/SQL experience

  • 3+ years of experience with SAS or SQL, or other data management, reporting and query tools

  • 1+ years of experience in application & data architecture and solution design

Desired Qualifications:

  • An industry-standard technology certification

  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

  • 5+ years of consulting or regulatory experience in the financial services industry

  • 2+ years of UNIX experience

  • 2+ years of application production support experience

  • 2+ years of experience working within an application development environment

  • 2+ years experience with Informatica Data Quality (IDQ) development

  • 2+ years of data modeling experience
