Job Description

U.S. Bank is seeking the full-time position of Quantitative Modeler Manager. Telecommuting available from anywhere in US. HQ at 800 Nicollet Mall Minneapolis, MN 55402. Multiple positions available.

Essential Responsibilities:

Oversees and works with analysts to create, validate, test, document, implement, and oversee usage of complex statistical models. The models may cover a variety of products or services; however, all models are used as part of the financial decision making process. Primarily focuses on Assets and Liability Management (ALM) and Pre-Provision Net Revenue (PPNR) model implementation and operations for both business and regulatory use cases. These models include Deposits, Deposit Service Charge, Mortgages, Commercial Loans, Credit Card Balance & Revenue, and Merchant Processing Services. Focuses on specific results including documenting the creation and testing of advanced statistical models and communicating such models to stakeholders within U.S. Bank. Develops quantitative methodologies and models used in a variety of macroeconomic forecast environments. Performs residential mortgage modeling, stress testing, and rates modeling. Utilizes knowledge of quantitative and qualitative risk factors, industry risks and risk management approaches in the creation of model development and the delivery of validation documentation including presentations, written reports, model and reporting code documentation, business requirements, and monitoring reports. Works with regression techniques, parametric and non-parametric algorithms, and times series algorithms to build models. Works with the following technologies: Python, R, SAS statistical packages, SQL, Excel/VBA, AWS, Tableau, GitLab, Command-line interface, MLflow, JupyterLab, Hadoop, Spark, Streamlit, and DataRobot.

Basic Qualifications:

This position requires a Master’s degree or equivalent in Statistics or Financial Mathematics and 2 years of experience developing quantitative financial models for credit risk forecast and analytics.

Required Skills/Experience:

Must also have 24 months of experience with each of the following: (1) statistical modeling of credit risk and cashflows (e.g., defaults and prepayments) for loans and financial products, including Credit Cards, Residential Mortgages, and Installment Loans for capital planning (CCAR), stress testing and other business risk management; (2) performing data warehousing, data engineering and data visualization using the following tools: SAS statistical packages, Amazon Web Services, Python, R, SQL, Tableau, Excel/VBA, GitLab, and Command-line interface; (3) leading end-to-end development of multiple Machine Learning classification models (including Random Forest, XGBoost, Logistic Regression with regularization) and applying ML explainability methods (e.g., Shapley Additive Explanation (SHAP)) to communicate model predictions to stakeholders; (4) monitoring model performance for consumer banking portfolios (e.g., Credit Card, Residential Mortgage, New/Used Auto Loans, RV/Marine Loans) for loss forecasting and cashflow management; and (5) automating model development and deployment workflows with various MLOps techniques and tools including MLflow, JupyterLab, Hadoop, Spark, Streamlit, and DataRobot. Will accept experience gained before, during or after Master’s program. Employer will accept experience gained concurrently.

Base pay range may vary if an offer is made for work in a different location. Pay Range: $84,968 - $190,400.
