Work closely with faculty and other Principal Investigators (PIs), research personnel, department accounting staff, central Sponsored Projects Administration (SPA) staff, and other partners to facilitate proposal and grant activities. Provide expert guidance to PIs and other staff on the preparation, submission, and non-financial post-award management of external and internal funding. Work Arrangement: Mostly remote with occasional in-person time as needed. Grant proposal preparation, submission, and initiation (80%) * Manage the proposal preparation and submission process from initial development through point of award for an assigned group of investigators including faculty, postdoctoral associates/fellows, graduate students, and other investigators. * As a grant coordinator, manage proposals and identify pre-award resources needed for these proposals; develop and oversee submission plans. * For each proposal submission, responsibilities include: review sponsor's request for proposals; prepare timelines for submission; prepare administrative portions of the proposal; obtain subaward documentation; finalize all parts of the proposal; liaise with departmental and collegiate administration and Sponsored Projects Administration (SPA) throughout the submission process; and communicate with the sponsor as needed. * Serve as expert on sponsor and University requirements and/or restrictions regarding PI/staff eligibility, cost sharing, F&A sharing, budget limitations, other sponsor requirements, and award terms. Communicate these requirements to PIs and other stakeholders. Proactively identify potential issues, use knowledge to interpret gray areas, identify solutions, and make recommendations. * Manage application forms for proposals and awards, using sponsor systems such as ASSIST, grants.gov, research.gov, proposalCentral, etc. * Manage the non-financial aspects of award setup and management, including submission of Just in Time information, other post-submission materials, and interim and final progress reports. Compliance and Administration (20%) * Monitor pre- and post-award compliance issues, including FCOI, RCR, sponsors' public access policies, other support documentation, use of human subjects or vertebrate animals, etc. * Advise PIs on managing public access compliance issues. Provide guidance and support on PMC, NIHMS, and MyNCBI accounts and submissions. * Anticipate potential issues relevant to proposals and awards. Collaborate with accounting personnel and other stakeholders to ensure efficient ongoing management of awards. * Ensure compliance with University research policies and procedures in all tasks. * Maintain electronic files on proposal and award activity and maintain pre-award data. Qualifications All required qualifications must be documented on application materials Required Qualifications: * BA/BS plus at least 4 years' experience or a combination of related education and work experience to equal 8 years. * Demonstrated oral and written communication skills. Ability to manage time and prioritize multiple projects. Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team. * Experience and expertise in technology and software related to the needs of the position (e.g., Word, Excel, Adobe, etc.) * Demonstrated ability to take direction and correction to improve skills and productivity. Preferred Qualifications: * Experience working in a higher education institution. * Current or past sponsored projects-related work in a higher education setting. * Decisive self-starter and effective team member. * Experienc with electronic proposal submission systems such as NIH ASSIST (eRA commons), Grants.gov, ProposalCentral and other grants management (UMN MN-GEMS system), sponsor grant databases (e.g., NIH RePORTER).
