This position is governed by a local union contract.
Under direct or general supervision is responsible for the proper and safe operation of all plant fuel and material handling equipment.
Operation of bulldozers, backhoes, locomotives, coal unloading equipment, conveyors, coal crushers, shakers, trippers, scales, samplers, rail car thawing equipment, oil unloading equipment, trucks, and other related equipment.
Responsibly enforces all safety and environmental rules and standards.
Is responsible for routine maintenance, upkeep, neatness and appearance of all mechanical and electrical equipment under his or her direction.
Repairs or assists in repairing motors, drives and material handling equipment. Repairs motors, drives, belts, rollers, pumps, structures and other equipment associated with solid fuel handling. Uses less complex machineshopequipment such as drill press, hydraulic press, power saws.
Utilizes a computer and other technology-based work management systems in performing work duties, capturing equipment and work history and record keeping.
Directs the work of and instructs others assigned to assist him or her.
Operates automotive, forklift and other equipment when required.
Performs housekeeping duties as assigned.
Responds to overtime requests as needed.
In addition to the above and other related work of a similar grade, a Fuel Equipment Operator will be assigned to any other work of equal or lesser skill, within the capabilities of the individual, to meet emergencies or other operating needs.
Educational requirements: High School diploma or equivalent.
Must successfully complete pre-job testing requirements.
Must have a minimum of 2 years of experience operating bulldozers, backhoes, excavators, and other similar equipment.
Must be able to work in both indoor and outdoor environmental conditions, hot and cold temperatures and moderate to high noise environments. This position requires a person to occasionally bend, stoop, reach, push, walk, stand and climb.
Must be willing and able to work extra and/or irregular hours including holidays and weekends.

Experience maintain and repairing bulldozers, backhoes and other similar equipment.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal skills and the demonstrated ability and willingness to learn.
Demonstrates and maintains high personal standards of performance, responsibility and professionalism.
