Dowhas an exciting opportunity for aProcess Automation Specialist: Alarm Event Excellence System Support & Implementation, located inMidland, MI. The purpose of this job is to provide support for the Alarm & Event Excellence Application within TES Organization. Alarm & Event Excellence (AEEx) currently provides MOD5, ABB, DeltaV, Honeywell Experion and Siemens platform users with alarm management tools. The person in this position works closely with the AEEx team, and also provides internal customer support for all the AEEx team tools.

The AEEx program currently has two functions. The first is plant specific Digital Control System (DCS) data mining. The second is providing weekly metrics along with aggregate data from each DCS Data Miner system. This data allows plants, sites, and businesses to view Key Performance Indicators and metrics in a plant specific or business/site analysis.

This position involves leveraging the current AEEx model to other process control platforms. The AEEx team is currently working to leverage the current process to new DCS systems within the company. This position will be critical in the design and implementation of the software and hardware for the project. Future leveraging to other platforms is expected.

Job responsibilities include:

  • The person in this role is responsible for managing a queue of service requests, prioritizing support needs, and interacting with internal customers.

  • Understand the different data types from the various process control platforms.

  • Develop a standard method for interpreting and receiving this data.

  • Develop a SQL database to receive data from the DCS platform.

  • Within the SQL database and server, develop a process to analyze data from plants and prepare the data to be served to a corporate analysis server.

  • Develop and maintain a code versioning system.

  • Design and develop a robust backup and recovery system.

  • Test and make available a template for future new platform leveraging from this project.

  • Create documentation and training material for the project for sustainability and leveraging.

  • Responsibilities are primarily for the ABB 800xA DCS system now, but will expand over time to encompass other commercial DCS system

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • This job requires excellent interpersonal & problem solving skills coupled with a strong technical background.

  • The ability to prioritize and execute numerous issues is critical

Required Qualifications

  • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree is required with a degree in Computer Engineering or Software Engineering preferredOR5 years of relevant experience with a High School Diploma/GEDORrelevant military experience at an E6 rank/Petty Officer 2nd Class or higher is required .

  • Experience with SQL Language and Database and Microsoft Excel VBA is required.

  • A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

Preferred Qualification

  • Process control data mining experience is preferred.

  • Understanding database design and management along with web interface design is also critical.

  • Strong skills debugging complex Excel, SQL, and MS Access applications are strongly desired.

  • Experience in: Microsoft Access, JavaScript, ASP Programming, VB Scripting, Microsoft ASP.NET, Windows Azure Cloud.
