NiSource Regulatory Analyst Job Family - Rate Case (Columbus OH or Merrillville IN) in Merrillville, Indiana

The analyst will be responsible for the development, preparation and implementation of regulatory filings, studies, rates, tariffs and plans for the NiSource companies to ensure rates that are competitive, profitable, and comply with regulatory policies and guidelines. Responsibilities include the preparation of compliance filings, comprehensive data analyses, analytical studies, documentation, and testimony to support regulatory proceedings, rates and cost of service. The Regulatory Analyst will support accurate, timely and innovative regulatory initiatives, including but not limited to: regulatory rate case filings, tariff filings, discovery responses, regulatory asset accounting, data analysis, analytical studies, sales support, utility capital structure and gas cost recovery filings along with special contract development support and filings. Works closely with State Policy Team, Operations, Accounting, Tax, Customer Operations, Financial Planning and Legal. Principle Duties and Responsibilities Responsible for preparing and implementing regulatory filings in various proceedings, including the development of schedules, exhibits, documentation, reporting, work papers, discovery responses and testimony. Develop and support various studies, analyses, cost allocation studies, innovative and revenue-enhancing rate designs and research in support of developing solutions to address regulatory issues and filings. Develops and implements trackers for total and timely recovery of gas cost, capital expenditures and other costs. Maintains ongoing regulatory reporting initiatives. Researches and analyzes commission orders and other regulatory-related financial information Implements Orders to ensure compliance with tariffs, regulations, and regulatory orders, including timely and accurate development, interpretation and input of billing rates for customers. Provides expert tariff administration, interpretation, and support, including regulatory consulting advice. Develop, monitor and perform testing of internal controls; Ensures compliance with internal controls and reporting requirements, including Sarbanes-Oxley requirements. Prepares and/or provides expert testimony in support of regulatory, rate and contract filings and participates in related negotiations. Evaluates Regulatory processes for continual improvement opportunities to more efficiently and effectively deliver value. Communicates essential information to team and state regulatory staffs.Required Qualifications for Regulatory Analyst Position Requires BS/BA in accounting, finance, or other business discipline Knowledge of PC applications Ability to perform above duties under close supervision Strong attention to detail Excellent verbal and written communication skills Strong interpersonal skills Ability to deliver resultsPreferred Additional Qualifications for Regulatory Analyst Position 1-3 years of experience in accounting or related disciplineRequired Qualifications for a Senior Regulatory Analyst Position BS/BA in accounting, finance, or other business discipline Knowledge of PC applications Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision in an accurate and timely manner and deliver results Proven record of experience in the regulatory environment, accounting, finance and/or business discipline Demonstrated ability to be self-motivated Exhibited expert technical skills and attention to detail Excellent verbal and written communication skills Works well in a team environment Ability to successfully coordinate projectsPreferred Additional Qualifications for a Senior Regulatory Analyst Position Multiple functional experience MBA or CPA At least three years recent work experience in in accounting or related discipline Witness training and/or previous witness experienceRequired Qualifications for a Lead Regulatory Analyst Position BS/BA in accounting, finance, or other business discipline Knowledge of PC applications Demonstrated ability to be self-sufficient and self-motivated Ability to successfully lead and coordinate projects and train other analysts Proven record of superior experience in the regulatory environment, accounting, finance, or other business discipline Demonstrated proficiency in multiple functions, as well as successful assumption of increasingly technical projects and responsibilities Proven ability to provide expert technical advice to others in an accurate and timely manner Exhibited expert technical skills and attention to detail Excellent verbal and written communication skills Works well in a team environmentPreferred Additional Qualifications for a Lead Regulatory Analyst Position Multiple functional experience MBA or CPA At least five years recent work experience in accounting or related discipline Witness training and/or previous witness experienceDisclaimerThe preceding description is not designed to be a complete list of all duties and responsibilities required of the position.Relocation assistance is NOT available for this position.
