RedHat Senior Financial Analyst in Mclean, Virginia

Job summary

The Red Hat Americas Business Finance team is looking for a Senior Financial Analyst to join us in Tysons Corner, VA, Washington, D.C., or Raleigh, NC. In this role, you will partner with North America (NA) sales leadership on their go to market financial position. You will provide insightful reviews of how a region is progressing against its expense and workforce plan, review strategic business investments, and advise on the optimal use of expense budgets. As a Senior Financial Analyst, you'll need to be able to understand complex financial problems and provide explanations and solutions that are sound and clearly communicated. You will also need to have excellent communication skills and ability to support multiple teams.

Primary job responsibilities

  • Assist in reviewing business functions' financial results following each month and quarter-end financial close; provide explanation and support of variances of budget versus actual as well as comparative quarters

  • Support fiscal year planning for the sales teams and assist in the development of financial-based justifications for expenditures, additional investments, and expansion of new or existing locations and business activities

  • Partner with the Talent Acquisition (TA) and People (HR) teams to ensure that hiring plans can be effectively carried out

  • Perform monthly financial and operational reporting with commentary

  • Analyze sales team’s performance (financial and other operational KPIs) in alignment with the global finance team

  • Coordinate with other global finance functions to review consolidated short and long-term global financial forecasts

  • Provide financial models and dashboards with analysis on investment, expenses, and headcount trends, including variances of budget versus actual and year-over-year

  • Develop an understanding of Red Hat’s global business model in order to identify financial trends and provide value-added analysis

Required skills

  • 5+ years of progressive financial experience including financial planning and analysis; background in a technology field supporting a sales team is a plus

  • Demonstrated business insight with an ability to think strategically and analytically

  • Result-oriented and motivated with a solid sense of personal accountability

  • Communication and presentation skills with a demonstrated ability to interact successfully with senior management

  • Problem-solving and financial-modeling skills in spreadsheets with an ability to navigate financial enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems

  • Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting with a solid understanding of applied accounting and finance concepts; master's degree in business administration or the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification are a plus

  • Experience with Oracle business intelligence (BI) software like Hyperion (Essbase, Smart View, and Planning) as well as Tableau or Anaplan is a big plus
