The VTA Protective Services Technical Specialist position is critical for the success of the VTA Protective Services Department. Allied Universal Security Services provides the Technical Specialist for a variety of roles within the Protective Services Department. The focus of this position is to support all AU and Protective Services functions within VTA. This position requires the ability to remain flexible and adjust to any demand or situation that may arise. The duties of this position include:

  • Check, Respond and Save Pertinent Outlook Emails.

  • Administrator of Protective Services personnel Computers and Emails.

  • Special Event Logistics Coordinator

  • Patrol Radio Manager

  • Record Retention Coordinator

  • CPUC Corrective Action Items Tracker

  • CCTV Support

  • Front Desk Support

  • Lost and Found Bike Program Support

  • Protective Services Department Facilities Requester

  • Protective Services Email Distribution Group Owner

  • Security Incident Reports Administrator

  • Patrol Vehicle Coordinator

  • Patrol Operations Logistics Support

  • Occasional Point of Contact for most VTA Departments on behalf of Protective Services

  • Special Projects

  • GFI/TVM Key Safe Administrator

Responsibilities

  • Assist VTA's Manager of Security Programs and Senior Management Analyst with a variety of projects. Includes reviewing, processing and/or updating security-related documents (i.e., System Security Plan/Operation Control Center's Red Book/Security Threat Response Procedure),

  • Special projects (i.e. Fixed Asset Inventory – Cameras and Badge Readers)

  • Attend various meetings (i.e., Security Projects, New CCTV Projects, Track Allocation, System impacts).

  • Create supporting documentation using Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio, used in documents like the System Security Plan.

  • Create and distribute BOLOS for VTA and the Santa Clara Sheriff's Department. Prepare BOLOS which are sent out for criminals, missing persons, or former employees.

  • Build cases for VTA and Sheriff's Transit Patrol Detectives for graffiti/vandalism reimbursement. Work with Risk Management, Sheriff's Detectives, and VTA Staff to prepare for fiscal reimbursement reports using the VTA Assets cost estimate sheet.

  • Update the Protective Service's SharePoint Portal. Update AU phone lists, Security and Fare Inspection Documents, Lost and Found Policies and Procedures, Various Security forms, IT forms, Board Memorandums, etc. Enforcement Documents, Non-Revenue Vehicle document forms, Security Notices, Current BOLOS, and many Security related websites.

  • C-Cure user for issuing new/replacement/temporary/modify access and run door reports by person/door.

  • Monitor VTA's Parking Pass distribution system (Digital Iris) and coordinate with the Revenue team manager to schedule collections.

  • Work with VTA's IT Department to set up new network accounts and the County for fueling access. Create IT forms for new officers to set up their accounts and submit forms to shutdown access when Officers leave. Repeat for the Sheriff's Department and some VTA Staff. Set up new Officers on at least two of four computers that they may use.

  • VTA's IndustrySafe user to enter, correct and close Security Incidents Reports that occur on our system. IndustrySafe easily allows users to manipulate searches by date, type of incident, or location.

  • Update IndustrySafe with all AU personnel and develop data extract reports for VTA's data processing contractor.

  • Proficient with VTA's National Transit Database for entering and updating major security events on any VTA property. Ensure all reportable events are submitted within 30 days of occurrence. A hard copy of each event is made and kept for VTAs' records.

  • Generate detailed reports for Major Security Incidents using Summary of Events, Unusual Occurrences report, VTA Supervisors reports, Shift Summary Reports, Daily Activity Reports, Incident Reports, Police Reports, and other forms of documentation.

  • Manage VTA's Revenue Keys for both Bus and Light Rail Systems with an inventory database. These are used in the Money Room, Bus Fareboxes, and Light Rail Ticket Vending Machines.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Access / Excel / Outlook / PowerPoint / SharePoint / Word and all Windows operating systems through Windows 10.

  • Work with VTA's Radio Technician for issues that arise with Officer's Radios. Once a quarter, send an updated list of Officer's Call Signs to the Protective Services Senior Management Analyst and the VTA Radio Technician.

  • Proficient with Pelco, SafetyVision, ATI, and Exacqvision CCTV Programs.

  • Owner of several email Distribution groups.

Overall, this position encompasses a wide variety of tasks. There will be an emphasis on professionally handling special assignments and prioritizing all working projects. AU expects the person in this position to be consistently professional and motivated to achieve all goals. The Technical Specialist position is vital for the continued success of AU and Protective Services. The Technical Specialist will perform all these tasks at a competent level and provide outstanding customer service to VTA.

Allied Universal Services is currently searching for a Professional Security Shift Supervisor .

The Shift Security Supervisor will supervise and coordinate the delivery of quality services on a specific shift at an assigned customer. The Security Shift Supervisor will act as a liaison between site supervisor, Account Manager/Field Operations Manager and professional security officers. Supervise staff on assigned shift, providing coaching, recognition and discipline within approved empowerment range.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • At least 18 years of age

  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent, or 5 years verifiable experience

  • Must possess effective written and oral communication and interpersonal skills with ability to deal with all levels of personnel and the general public in a professional and effective manner; must be able to use initiative and independent judgment within established guidelines

  • Must be able to frequently prepare written reports and logs in neat, legible handwriting;

  • Must be able to read and understand all operating procedures and instructions

  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.

  • Driving Positions: must possess a valid Driver’s License with at least one year of driving experience, a clean driving record (no major violations within last 36 months, no more than 1 accident in last 24 months, no more than one minor moving violation in last 24 months), a minimum level of insurance as required by Company policy, and the ability to safely operate a vehicle required.

  • As a condition of employment, employee must successfully complete a background investigation and a post-offer/pre-employment drug/alcohol test, may be required to pass Drivers Record check

  • Intermediate computer skills to utilize innovative, wireless technology at client specific sites

  • Ability to handle both common and crisis situations at the client site, calmly and efficiently

  • Display exceptional customer service and communication skills

  • Ability to handle crisis situations at the client site, calmly and efficiently

  • Able to:

  • Work in various environments such as cold weather, rain/snow or heat

  • Occasionally lift or carry up to 40 pounds

  • Climb stairs, ramps, or ladders occasionally during shift

  • Stand or walk on various surfaces for long periods of time
