Robert Half Medical Collector in Los Angeles, California


We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Medical Collector to join our team at a local Hospital. The ideal candidate will assist with the recovery of outstanding payments from patients and insurance companies.   1. Review patient accounts, determining appropriate billing distributions and working directly with patients and insurance companies to ensure timely payment.

  2. Identify delinquent accounts, aging accounts, and uncollected payment - putting into place strategies for recovery.

  3. Process claims, payments, and invoices - ensuring accuracy.

  4. Liaise with insurance companies to resolve any discrepancies and facilitate payment.

  5. Professionally and empathetically communicate with patients about their accounts, payment plans, and hospital billing policies.

  6. Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of collection activities.

  7. Develop and maintain a compliance plan for federal and state regulations applicable to medical collection procedures.


    1. High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in finance or related field preferred.

    2. Minimum 2 years of experience in medical billing, collections, or a related field.

    3. In-depth knowledge of medical terminology, insurance claims, and billing.

    4. Strong understanding of local, state, and federal collection laws.

    5. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

    6. Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills.

    7. Attention to detail with the ability to multitask.
