The Sr. Specialist, Product Management is responsible for providing overall direction for assigned products throughout the product life-cycle stages (Market Introduction, Growth, Maturity, Decline, and End of Life).

Essential Functions:

  • Works closely with Engineering and Business Development to define the product road map including product re-fresh and next generation products.

  • Develops product strategy to include the business case and presents to leadership for business approval.

  • Monitors competitive landscape and market conditions and establishes product-pricing strategy to meet revenue and profitability goals.

  • Works closely with Sales, Contracts, Operations, Engineering, Quality and Finance departments to coordinate and manage the delivery of assigned products as well as pursuing cost reduction opportunities for the product.

  • Manages component obsolescence issues to extend the life of the product as appropriate for the business. Acts as primary customer interface for all product line aspects and leads reviews on major product lines to discuss technical, cost and schedule activities.

  • Coordinates closely with Operations to prioritize and establish product delivery requirements to ensure continued alignment with contract requirements and budgets.

  • Monitors and assesses production performance against plan (schedule and financial), manages risk, develops and implements corrective action when necessary to initiate product or product line changes.

  • Understands the role and responsibility of each product team member, and through expert communication and leadership skills, establishes a common understanding among team members on product, schedule, and financial objectives.

  • Reviews product design and configuration to ensure compliance with product specification(s).

  • Evaluates and approves design changes, specification and Bill of Materials (BOM) changes, and drawing package release.

  • Works within the established business reporting structure, providing a concise and accurate product line status as well as necessary financial reports and presentations.

  • Demonstrates ethical and professional behavior in accordance with company values.

  • Performs other duties, as assigned.


  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Marketing or a related field and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience or a Gradual Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior relevant experience.

  • Superb analytical, management and organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.

  • Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills. Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively to promote collaboration among the product team.

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experienced in the development and manufacture of Electro-Optical or laser systems and components. Knowledge of products, and their use in a military operational environment is desired.
