Lockheed Martin Mechanical Engineer, Design Verification Checker in Littleton, Colorado

Design verification / Checker is responsible for the coordination and review of mechanical and electrical engineering documents, models and specifications to ensure high quality, manufacturable designs. Responsibilities include:

•Assisting mechanical design team with planning, design, development, and testing in support of customer needs

•Perform document and model verification with specialized emphasis on ensuring successful Special Tooling (ST) / Mechanical Ground Support Equipment (MGSE) / Special Tooling Equipment (STE) / Electrical Ground Support Equipment (EGSE) fabrication and implementation

•Examine engineering documents/models for soundness, efficiency, and simplicity of design; completeness, clarity, and dimensional accuracy; correctness of materials and processes; conformity to design/drafting standards, design specifications, and practicability; and economy of fabrication, assembly, and installation

•Conduct quality control checks on all engineering drawings, ensuring accurate, error-free, cost-effective products from designers

•Support delivery of next generation of ST and MGSE supporting spacecraft processing flow while eliminating high risk activities

•Accountable for maintaining all equipment, schedules, and cost requirements for assigned projects

The ideal candidate will have good communications skills (both oral and written) and a background in the Design Verification and Checker processes.

Basic Qualifications:

- Demonstrated understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals including structures, mechanisms, materials and analysis.

- Mechanical design and/or manufacturing experience that includes the use of interpretation of engineering design drawings.

- Familiarity with engineering CAD tools (Creo, I-DEAS, etc.) and model based product definition.

- Computer Aided Design (CAD) modeling, drafting and release familiarity (Creo, I-Deas, Solid Works, etc.).

- Proficiency with ASME Y14.5 1994 Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).

- Experience working with teams on cross-level projects/multidisciplinary product development teams.

- Competent at handling multiple customers, tasks, and projects simultaneously.

- Exhibit strong presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Desired Skills:

- Active TS/SCI with poly

- EPDM Windchill experience.

- Creo experience.

- Prior checking experience, LM MCAD Checker certification is a plus.

- Data Set Rating experience.

- Familiar with the development of Special Tooling (ST) / Mechanical Ground Support Equipment (MGSE) used for the manufacture, integration, test, transport, and handling of spacecraft and associated critical hardware.

- Demonstrated commitment to development and deployment of productivity / performance improvements and leveraging new technologies.

- Aeorspace / Structural / Mechanical / HVAC / Electrical engineering systems experience.

- Working knowledge of industrial standards and federal regulations including ANSI, OSHA, and AWS (including AWS weld symbology).

- Demonstrated project leadership skills and the ability to lead and drive change.

- Knowledge of LM Space command media.
