Freeport-McMoRan Inc. Diesel Diagnostic Mechanic I - Climax Mine in Leadville, Colorado
Climax Molybdenum is the world's leading producer of molybdenum and has a long, successful history of doing business in a safe, highly efficient and socially responsible manner. We have operated in Colorado for more than 100 years and today have mining and milling operations near Leadville, Kremmling and Empire. Our Climax mine is located between Frisco and Leadville. Our Henderson mine and mill are an hour's drive apart - separated by the Continental Divide and a 15-mile conveyor system (10 miles is underground). The Henderson mine is about 50 miles west of Denver and 10 miles west of Empire, and the mill is located between Dillon and Kremmling.
Description Highly skilled mechanic who safely performs diagnostic, maintenance and repair of heavy equipment such as, but not limited to: Haul Trucks, Water Trucks, Rubber Tire and Track Dozers, Front-end Loaders, and Motor Grader - Perform the removal, repair and installation of transmissions, engines, breaks, differentials, pumps, motors, torque convertors, final drives and other heavy equipment systems or components. - Performs mechanical and lubrication preventative maintenance on machine systems such as: hydraulic, power train and engines. - Prioritize and make decisions regarding equipment repair as needed. - Responsible for maintaining work orders and performing work area inspections. - Operate mobile equipment such as: Overhead cranes, forklifts, and boom trucks. - Perform welding such as: Carbon arc, Plasma, Mig, Tig, and Stick. - Performs as a Fill-in Supervisor as required. - Train and mentor other employees. - Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications Minimum Requirements:
- Two (2) years' experience in mechanical/maintenance crafts (including welder, boilermaker, machinist or facility maintenance/construction) or a combination of education and experience in industrial mechanical repair and maintenance.
- HEM Diagnostic Mechanic I: Practical Skills Assessments defined in LOP.
- Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures in English
- Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards
- Ability to prioritize repairs and possess excellent decision-making skills
- Ability to troubleshoot machine systems
- Ability to work and effectively communicate with others
- Ability to read and use blueprints
Preferred Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED
