PIERCE COLLEGE @ FORT STEILACOOM Emergency Medical Services Program Specialist 2 in LAKEWOOD, Washington

The Emergency Medical Services Program at Pierce College is Washington State approved and trains students to work in the field as emergency medical technicians. Those completing our EMT program obtain employment on a private ambulance, as a firefighter, or a number of other careers in the medical field. The EMS Program Specialist provides key support to students and potential students in the Emergency Medical Services program. Support includes communicating with prospective students, assisting with the application process, and facilitating on-boarding prior to course registration. The Specialist coordinates student clinical experience and maintains effective working relationships with clinical sites. This position supports the Program Manager and requires regular and consistent attendance. Essential Functions: Clinical Coordination Screen applications and communicate with students to assure complete files. Establish student e-files and class rosters. Process prerequisites for Emergency Rotation and hospital compliance. Complete Student Passports for clinical rotation for offsite area hospitals. Send all required documentation for each student to area hospital on-boarding departments. Liaison with students, hospital staff, and compliance agencies to set up Emergency Department rotation: confirm dates, set up calendars, complete mandatory paperwork, checking medical records, CPR and pre-registration. Attend quarterly meetings with compliance agencies in order to stay up-to-date on regulations and requirements. Maintain hospital contracts. Maintain program medical insurance. Maintain student passports and ER calendar during the quarter. Maintain constant communication with area hospitals to monitor and implement changes in protocols for on-boarding. Student Support Serve as first point of contact for students via phone and email. Facilitate students' needs during the application process. Communicating with students during the whole application process on what the student is missing. Orientation: Attend Mandatory Student orientation with Program manager or faculty; Facilitate Emergency Department trainings and process compliance documents; and Oversee registration process screen for completion. Maintain paperwork for student handbook and serve as a backup for the Program Manager as needed. Maintain tracking of student certificate completion. Screen email, directing emails to the director or other staff as appropriate. Send program application. Schedule advising appointments with the program manager or faculty advisor as needed. Maintain Program Manager and faculty calendars. Maintain inventory of office supplies and class supplies. Maintain student handbooks and make quarterly updates. Plot out yearly calendar and orientation dates with corresponding application due dates. Coordinate quarterly with Program Manager regarding number of classes to be held in future quarters and prepare spreadsheets. for review and approval according to established schedules. Build shifts in SLING. College Participation and Other Duties Participate in college activities and committees as assigned. Other duties as assigned.
