Reports to : Executive Vice President

JOB SUMMARY:

At Gallo Mechanical, we are experiencing significant growth and looking for a Vice President of Operations to lead all Construction Operations for our West division (Lafayette and Lakes Charles, LA offices). The Vice President of Operations will provide leadership and direction for day-to-day execution of our construction work projects; this will include overseeing operations, accounting and providing support for our Services team.

We are seeking an enthusiastic leader who can promote safety first on the job, lead by example, optimize operational efficiency, and develop a fast growing, high performing team. This role will be based out of our Lafayette, LA office.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead the Lafayette/Lake Charles mechanical construction teams and Gallo Mechanical Services team in all areas of Construction Operation working on projects of various sizes and complexity. (Our team installs, repairs, and maintains mechanical, plumbing, and HVAC systems in commercial buildings.)

  • Ultimately responsible for the performance, safety, quality, and work execution of our West construction team to execute projects safely, on time, and on budget.

  • Develop and grow team at all levels including field workers, foremen, and field operations managers.

  • Work closely with Operations Manager and Project Managers to ensure that proper operational policies are followed from estimating through warranty.

  • Provide leadership direction in mediating and resolving operational construction challenges with effective listening skills, solution focused mindset, and proactive resolution skills.

  • Meet or exceed all financial budgets and goals, manage accounting and financial reporting with key involvement in financial review with project specific team.

  • Provide leadership for scheduling manpower, material, and equipment with project teams.

  • Play an active part in finding creative avenues and solutions to identify and hire the best-in-class talent in a current challenging talent pool market.

  • Support Gallo Mechanical Services (GMS) business unit through manpower efforts, contract review, and billing assistance if necessary.

  • Conduct jobsite visits to gather initial site information prior to bidding jobs on behalf of Estimating team.

  • Review contract documents for correct scope including any contract changes and order pricing.

  • Build and maintain strong customer relations with general contractor, subcontractors, vendors, internal customers, and owner.

    IDEAL EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or related field, or significant related experience in Construction Management.

  • 5+ years of leadership experience managing high performing teams with demonstrated success in adding operation efficiency.

  • Experience in the mechanical construction/plumbing industry is preferred but not required.

  • Demonstrate knowledge in construction management principles, practices and methods, environmental regulations, engineering project management methods, workplace safety, budgeting, employee management and development.

  • Ability to solve complex, multi-faceted problems using various problem-solving techniques.

  • Possess excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Possess analytical and mathematical skills, quick thinking, and a solid understanding of the main principles of engineering, construction, and architecture.

  • W orking knowledge of Microsoft Suite – Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, etc.
