Kohler Co. Brand Strategist in KOHLER, Wisconsin

Reporting to the Sr. Manager – Brand Strategy (Communications Focus), this position is responsible for crafting strategies that will ultimately position our products, our services and our brand as meaningfully different. To ensure that we’re not only being competitively distinct, but culturally relevant. This role will help focus the team to make sure we are clear on what we should be saying, to whom and why. And to, then, partner with media and Content Strategists on optimizing the when.
Overall -Help plan and manage an innovative, world-class brand strategy for Kohler Co businesses, with a focus on communications. Demonstrate sound judgment in analyzing business needs towards driving strategy. Then, importantly, understand workflow and process within each team to facilitate proper planning and positive results, including how best to collaborate with Centers of Excellence.
Articulate the right question- Direct, inspire and ensure excellence in strategy and direction for the brand including strategic inputs (like briefs). Identify and recommend potential needs (research, workshops, training) to aid in the consumer insights gathering and strategic-development process.
Able to identify opportunities to better focus communication + brand strategies.
Able to state the problem in a way it can be solved via briefs.
Able to assist Insights team with secondary info searches, screeners, questionnaires + reports.
Make the complex simple- Analyze consumer and industry data and trends and, then, process and present the problem (or opportunity) in a way that will allow for a better, actionable brand solution. Take a role in formulating and articulating consumer-driven strategies – go beyond observations to implications.
Able to assist in compiling reports that present not only a complete picture but a clear logic.
Able to draw actionable – insight-driven –implications for consumer-driven strategies.
Cultivate fresh insight- Help to aggressively understand (then define) the target audience, their lifestyles and their relationship with the brand. Provide thought leadership on evolving understanding of both competitive audits and Cultural Dynamics.
Able to apply insights about the target to brand strategies and program plans.
Able to audit and report on competitive work and strategies in the marketplace.
Able to audit and report on behavioral trends and cultural shifts in the marketplace.
Inspire-Work closely with Account Managers and COEs to spark the creative process develop the idea and increase its impact. Provide the tools, support and stimuli necessary to create not just powerful, strategic and passionate work but also brand champions.
Able to collect insights and points-of-interest and communicate them in a way that sparks COEs to think about things in a new way.
Able to craft impactful briefings that help COEs think about the issue in the optimal way.
Help design ideas to attract, connect and engage-Articulate your ideas in a way that can help others improve upon your idea and help craft team’s ideas to maximize consumer relevance and business impact. Recognize the game changing ideas and give them the support they need to get executed.
Able to work with COEs to use insights as both support and inspiration towards better ideas.
Able to help craft program plans with Brand Managers based on strategic direction of the project at hand.
Empower-Provide support, direction and expertise to Brand Managers and Marketing partners to ensure confidence and accomplish goals and objectives. Achieve successful outcomes by ensuring teams have what they need to make better decisions more confidently.
Able to partner with Brand Managers and Marketing partners to build the brand and make business impact.
Able to identify and report on data and insights when asked.
Champion better, always-Collaborate, integrate and connect by example. Inspire teams with – and to refocus on – consumer perspectives. Be in constant search of a better way – especially regarding best interests of the long-term brand relationship. Evaluate the effects of work in the marketplace.
Able to identify relevant voice-of-target insight and data / analytics towards a better solution when asked.
Able to identify potential issues with current logic / thinking and opportunities for optimizing the work.
Organizationally-Maintain a close and supportive relationship with content creators and Centers Of Excellence within The Beacon. Actively engage in the concepting of content and presentation of recommendations.
Likely two to five years experience.
Meets expectations of majority of Kohler Core Competencies.
No direct reports. Ideally is able to find a mentor outside of the Strategy team from whom to learn.
Likely works most closely with Analysts. But is expected to be comfortable with Managers.
